Happy EMS Recognition Day!

Before EMS Week comes to a close, we wanted to take a minute to recognize our board members for their advocacy and their work in creating an association capable meeting the needs of CT EMS today and well into the future. Being a board member requires a significant time commitment and we couldn’t be more grateful for their contributions.

We’d also like to give a big thank you to all who have supported our mission over the past year. CAPE wouldn’t be the association it is today without our sponsors, partners, and members. It truly does take a village.

With COVID restrictions lifted, we look forward sharing some group pictures in the months to come, not only of our board but with our members and other supporters who have come to be an integral part of CAPE.

Happy EMS Week 2021 to all! Stay safe.

In support of Autism Acceptance Month and in celebration of the neurodiversity in our community, Groton Ambulance designed these uniform tee shirts for the month of April. The shirts read, “Autism, seeing the world differently.” They will be worn by our employees who donated to our autism fundraiser. The proceeds of this tee shirt fundraiser will benefit a local nonprofit that supports autistic individuals and their families.

A little bit about Autism Acceptance Month:

April has widely been known as “Autism Awareness Month” in the United States as a way to empower autistic individuals and their families. This year the Autism Society of America, alongside the greater autism community, is formally shifting references of “Autism Awareness Month” to “Autism Acceptance Month.” Words matter. As we work to create a more accepting society, we must also accept autistic individuals for who they are.

We had such a great time with everyone at Head Start! While we hope to resume in-person ambulance tours and education soon, we’re glad our video was a hit! Thanks to everyone for braving the cold and wind that day for a socially distant “hello!”

Keeping baby warm in the winter is essential. Use light layers, instead of puffy material, to ensure your car seat harness has a snug fit.
