Twenty-five years ago, I was introduced to a notable comedian from Los Angeles and Portland, who hailed from my hometown of Billings, Montana. My friend and I attended his performance, which was a remarkable show.

From 2001 to 2011, I didn't have the opportunity to see or hear from him again, although he continued to perform nationwide, selling out major clubs.

When we started producing the Big Sky Comedy Festival in Montana, Auggie Smith was invited to join. We met again, but he didn't recall our initial meeting. We collaborated to create an exceptional festival, which we still host today.

In the past 13 years, I have had the pleasure of getting to know Auggie Smith, who has demonstrated the qualities of a true artist and a devoted student of stand-up comedy. His passion for comedy is unmatched.

As we kick off the Arts Festival, Auggie Smith is the perfect person to bring to Gresham and share his art with us.
