There are exceptions; if something needs to be repaired/updated to make a home liveable, don't wait. But when it comes to making a house your ideal home, it is a good idea to wait and be confident of significant changes.

The worst time to buy a home in the last 100 years was arguably 2007, right before the crash. Home values dropped up to 50%. But, did you know that home values from 2007 have doubled since that time? "Some people think that a 7/1 ARM must be paid off in seven years, but it's the interest rate that is fixed for seven years; the mortgage itself lasts for 30 years. The interest rate can go up or down after those seven years, but 30 years is how long you have to pay back the loan." - David Reiss. Understanding all there is to know about mortgages can be tricky.
