Types Of Recording That We Offer:

There are two basic approaches to recording that we use on a daily basis:

- Recording Live - that is...all instruments and vocals being recorded in one take which produces a more raw, rough sound. We do have the ability to put different instruments/vocals in separate rooms, so that there is minimal bleed-through in the mics.

- Multi-Track Recording - each instrument being recorded independently allowing for cleaner and more polished sound. This method requires (usually) use of a metronome to keep all the instruments in time with each other.

The correct method for you depends on the type of music you would like to record and probably your budget.

A lot of solo vocalist use pre-recorded music and overdub their vocals, harmonies, and adlibs to the mix. If you have a punk band and need a demo but are on a budget, you might want to record Live. Groups that need a more radio ready sound and want to focus on each instrument independently will be multi-tracking a lot of overdubs after the initial basic tracks, typically the drum tracks.

Can't figure out which way to go? Just contact us today and we would be more than happy to help.

From a recent recording session with Unforgettable Summer:

"When we first arrived at The Studio Bunker we were greeeted by Tim who helped us carry our equipment inside. From that moment, we knew that this was going to be a good experience. Tim was extremely professional and gave us advice and tips during our session to maximize our experience—we really appreciated his helpfulness. The studio’s atmosphere was plesant and relaxing, which made it easier to perform. Not only did we end up with a great sound, but the sound we wanted. We highly recommend recording at The Studio Bunker."

From a Recent Recording Session with Steve Kennan:

"Awesome Studio Experience! Tim has a great thing going at Studio Bunker. I've been in many studios and have also owned a couple. One thing I have learned is that the environment is every bit as important as the equipment... This place feels amazingly comfortable and relaxed. Tim is an expert with his gear and brings out some amazing sounds. I will definitely be back there in the future. I would recommend this studio to anyone"

How many Tracks can I expect to Record?

This is a very common question that I get from time to time and I wanted to take a second to answer it hoping that it will help you prepare for your next session!

(We will base this answer off of a 4 Hour Recording Session, since this is the average time booked in our studio)

The first 3 hours of a 4 hour session are used for producing, tracking and recording. The final hour is usually used to edit, mix and master.

Voice-Overs, Hip Hop and Karaoke Style Tracks:
Voice-overs are usually commercial business style clients and can expect to get most if not all of their tracks done in the 4 hour period. Karaoke style clients (which include singers tracking over pre-recorded material and hip hop style clients with their own beats) can expect to get 3-5 tracks completed.

Singer/Songwriters:
You folks have it the best when it comes to studio time. Usually you can expect to track 3 Full Songs or more in that time period. Given that they usually come in with just a guitar and minimal overdubs, there is plenty of time to get the right tone from the guitar, and make sure everything is sonically perfect.

Full Bands (up to 5 Piece):
Realistically when coming in to the studio with a full band for a 4 hour session, you can expect to track 1-2 songs. Main reason being that there are usually the main tracks (Bass, Drums, Guitar) along with overdubs (solos) and Multiple Vocal Tracks. The drums alone usually take at least 30 minutes to mic and test before any tracking even starts.

If you have any additional questions please let me know, I would be happy to answer them!

Have a Great Day!
