As the summer solstice approaches, many pagans and nature enthusiasts prepare to celebrate Litha, one of the eight sabbats in the Wheel of the Year. This ancient holiday, also known as Midsummer, marks the beginning of summer and the longest day of the year. The rich history and traditions of Litha are a testament to the enduring power of the natural world and our place within it.
The summer solstice has been celebrated by various cultures throughout history, each with their own unique customs and rituals. The Celts, for example, would gather on hilltops to light bonfires and dance, believing that the flames would ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune. Other European traditions included rolling burning wheels down hills into bodies of water, symbolizing the sun's journey across the sky. The association with fire is deeply rooted in Litha's connection to the Sun, the source of light and life.
Fire plays a significant role in Litha celebrations, representing the peak of the Sun's power and energy. The bonfires lit during this time are believed to purify, protect, and energize, warding off negative forces and attracting positive energies. This symbolism is closely tied to the Sun's life-giving properties, which are essential for growth and abundance. As we light our own fires, whether large or small, we honor the Sun's power and acknowledge its role in sustaining us.
In some mythologies, Litha is associated with the battle between the Oak King and the Holly King. The Oak King, representing daylight, rules from Yule (winter solstice) to Litha, while the Holly King, symbolizing darkness, reigns from Litha to Yule. During the summer solstice, the Holly King wins the battle, and the days begin to grow shorter. This eternal cycle reminds us that light and darkness are intertwined, and that each has its own power and significance. As we celebrate Litha, we acknowledge the delicate balance between light and darkness, and the importance of honoring both aspects of the natural world.
As we mark this special day, we can take a moment to reflect on the balance of light and dark in our own lives. We can consider how we can cultivate inner power and brightness, and how we can honor the natural world and its rhythms. Whether we choose to celebrate Litha with traditional rituals or modern twists, the core idea is to acknowledge the power and beauty of the natural world. By doing so, we can deepen our connection to the world around us and find meaning and purpose in our lives.
Litha is also a time of love and magic, and is considered an auspicious time for love spells and weddings. The energy of the solstice is believed to be potent and powerful, and many people take advantage of this energy to manifest their desires and intentions. As we celebrate Litha, we can tap into this energy and use it to fuel our own passions and pursuits.
As the sun reaches its peak, let's honor the cycle of the seasons and the eternal dance between light and darkness. May Litha bring us joy, growth, and a deeper connection to the world around us. May we find balance and harmony in our lives, and may we honor the natural world and its rhythms. By celebrating Litha, we can connect with the natural world and find meaning and purpose in our lives.

I cant scream it loud enough ๐ฅ
โจ Magnesium might be the most underestimated mineral in modern health.โจ๏ธ
It is involved in over 300 biochemical processes in the body and plays a role in energy production, muscle function, blood sugar balance, nervous system regulation, sleep quality, heart rhythm, stress resilience, and more.
Many people are walking around depleted without realizing it.
Signs may include muscle cramps, headaches, anxiety, poor sleep, heart palpitations, constipation, fatigue, chocolate cravings, and feeling "wired but tired."
The question isn't always "What supplement do I need?"
Sometimes the better question is...
Could my body simply be asking for more magnesium?
Food first whenever possible... mineral rich water... quality salt... and when needed, the right form of magnesium for the right person.
Your body runs on minerals. Magnesium is one of the big ones. ๐

3 Rituals to Calm Your Nerves and Relieve Pain
By Cristal Howard, Nourished Roots Apothecary
Pain is not just a physical sensation. Itโs a nervous system experience. When the body feels unsafe, rushed, or overwhelmed, pain turns up the volume. When the nervous system feels supported, pain often softens on its own.
These rituals work because they calm the nervous system first. Herbs are not used to โforceโ relief, but to gently remind the body how to settle, soften, and restore.

Iโve been a little witchy, or "crunchy" since the '90s...
Back when "alternative" meant crystal shops hidden behind record stores and your intuition was still considered a valid source of information. ๐ฎ
Then I became a nurse.
Not the kind who blindly follows orders.
The kind who asks questions.
The kind who wants to know why.
The kind who brought herbs into the break room and intuition into the charting. ๐
A nurse with a stethoscope and a rebellious streak. ๐
In the early 2000s, I homeschooled before it was trending on social media.
I listened to my children like they were the experts on their own bodies.
I trusted my instincts.
I trusted nature.
I trusted vaccines were not meant for everyone & food was medicine...
I trusted that mothers know more than they are often given credit for. ๐บ
I coparented the best I could...
Navigating life with grit, grace, and a little kitchen magic. โจ
Bone broth simmered on the stove like a healing potion.
Gardens became classrooms.
Books became teachers.
Experience became wisdom.
I learned from grandmothers, herbalists, old remedies, hard lessons, and every plant that seemed to whisper...
"This is what we're here for."
So here I am now...
A Registered Nurse who still believes healing starts at the root. ๐ฟ
A woman who respects science but refuses to ignore wisdom.
A bit witchy.
A bit wild.
And yes, a little crunchy too but definitely 100% Appalachian heart.
If the world wants to call that rebellious...
Well, bless their hearts. โค๏ธ

๐ฟ Change is inevitable.
The seasons change. Our bodies change. Our circumstances change.
But growth...
Growth is the choice to keep showing up. To keep learning. To keep healing. To keep becoming.
No matter your age, your diagnosis, your past, or your current struggle, you are not finished growing.
The roots are still deepening. ๐ฑ

๐ฅFor most people, that 2 to 4 PM crash isn't a lack of willpower. It's usually a signal from the body.
Common reasons include:
๐ Blood sugar swings A breakfast or lunch high in carbohydrates and low in protein can cause blood sugar to rise quickly and then drop a few hours later, leaving you sleepy, hungry, and reaching for caffeine or sugar.
๐ฅฉ Not enough protein If breakfast was coffee and a muffin or lunch was a salad with very little protein, your body may simply be running low on steady fuel.
๐ด Poor sleep Even one night of fragmented sleep can show up as a mid afternoon energy crash.
๐ฐ High cortisol all morning Running on stress hormones all morning often creates a "borrowed energy" effect. By afternoon, the bill comes due.
๐ง Mineral depletion Low sodium, potassium, and magnesium can contribute to fatigue, brain fog, headaches, and cravings. This is especially common in active people, those under stress, and women in menopause.
๐ฅ Insulin resistance One of the most common reasons I see. Energy feels fine after eating, then crashes. Hunger returns quickly. Cravings kick in. Belly weight tends to be stubborn.
๐ Menopause Declining estrogen and progesterone can affect blood sugar regulation, cortisol rhythms, sleep quality, and overall energy stability.
My simple checklist:
โข 30 to 40g protein at breakfast
โข Protein and fat at lunch
โข Mineral rich hydration throughout the day
โข Get outside for sunlight in the morning
โข Walk for 10 minutes after meals
โข Prioritize sleep before chasing supplements
The question I always ask is:
When you crash at 3 PM... are you sleepy, hungry, craving sugar, or mentally foggy?
The answer usually points us toward the root cause. ๐ฟ

Everybody thinks they eat healthy...
Until you ask what they're actually eating.
A diet soda doesn't cancel out a granola bar. A protein shake doesn't erase a drive thru lunch. And "low fat" doesn't automatically mean nourishing.
Health isn't built from marketing labels... It's built from real food, daily habits, quality sleep, movement, minerals, sunshine, and consistency.
Sometimes the healthiest thing on the plate is the thing that doesn't come with a health claim.
What's one "health food" you stopped eating when you learned what was really in it?

Alignment matters when sharing knowledge.
Align yourself with what feels real... what feels soulful.
Set aside the noise. Set aside the things that do not truly matter.
Faith. Joy. Peace. Honesty. Strength. Endurance.
And most of all... Love.
These are the things I believe in.
These are the things I choose to stand for.
The rest is just background noise.
๐๐ฟ A simple reminder that knowledge without integrity is just information. What matters is who you become while carrying it.
