*actual view inside my head a couple of years ago* and why I decided to make The Outlaw Oracle:

🪞 I was tired of spiritual tools that looked pretty but said nothing real

🌵 I couldn’t find a deck that held both grit and grace. (They all just felt like a bunch of glittery, whispery affirmations.)

💥 I needed something that honored the raw, irreverent, untamed parts of my spiritual path...not just the polished ones

The Moon card in the traditional tarot shows a full moon shining bright illuminating a river at night with a dog (our domesticated side) and a wolf (our primal instincts) howling below and a crawfish (our subconscious) wiggling’ up out of the water. What once was in the dark is now in plain sight.

But, in The Outlaw Oracle’s H***y Tonk Tarot, we got none other than Tanya Tucker looking down from that moon, reminding us of some important lessons.

Tanya knows all about about first impressions being misleading, ‘cause she had to fib about her age when she stated performing songs at a very young age. The moon card is all about mystery and illusion and you best believe when this card comes your way, there’s likely some secrets around. It’s a symbol of instability or hidden truths, just like Tanya sang about in her songs.

We’ve all got our own demons and secrets to deal with. Are you gonna face them head on like Tanya or look the other way?

When The Moon card shines, tread carefully, because things aren’t as they seem. Embrace the mystery and keep your eyes wide open, cause after all: life’s one helluva ride and we’re all trying to find our way in this crazy world: Like Two Sparrows in a Hurricane or Delta Dawn.

One of my favorite pastimes is to go "photo hunting". And today's as good a day as any to go for it.

I just take off by car or on foot in no particular direction, and look at my surroundings with curious eyes. It's amazing the charm and beauty we overlook every day when we're forgetting to really look around us.

Alright, let me tell ya about The Sun card - it’s like a burst of true joy. In the traditional tarot, it features a child riding a white horse through a field of sunflowers, arms wide open, without a care in the world.

In The Outlaw Oracle’s H***y Tonk Tarot we chose Will Roger’s to ride that horse, standing tall as a trick roper smiling like there’s no tomorrow.

Will Roger’s said he never met a man he didn’t like. He knew how to have a good laugh, even at politicians and damn near everyone loved him right back. He showed us the way to embrace life with a playful and childlike spirit. And that’s what The Sun card’s all about: basking in the light of happiness and riding towards a brighter future.

So, when The Sun card shines on you, let go of yer worries, throw your arms open wide and ride like there’s no tomorrow. Embrace each new day with joy, because life’s too short not to laugh a little (especially at ourselves).

The Sun card is a reminder to be like Will Rogers, not taking anything too seriously, and bringing a smile to anyone he met.

Kinda like "heads Carolina, tails California", except with cards.
