Good morning, Poets! At our August meeting, we decided to write elegies for September. I’ll be posting several links and examples of elegies over the coming weeks. At our September meeting we will have a generative workshop where we will write elegies together.
So, what is an elegy? Click the link for more info, but basically it’s a poem that honors something in the past: lost loved ones, childhood pets, HAM radio, your very first super ninetendo. If it’s a thing of the past (or something you perceive as a thing of the past), you can write an elegy about it.
Typically, elegies have three parts: praise for the thing/person, praise for this idealized thing/person, and consolation and solace
