Here’s a sneak peak at my last stitching project. A dear friend asked me to make it for her. There are a few firsts here - I have never embroidered five figures, it was the first time designing a little baby and sewing it in. Also designed a little labradoodle. The writing in the picture was a first for me too! I enjoyed putting this together for her.

A little family portrait cross-stitch project is what I plan to work on next. Adding a little labradoodle was a first for me. Adding a little baby close to the mom was also a first for me. It is fun to try out new cross-stitch ideas. Note to self - will try out new outfit ideas for the characters in future. Till then happy sewing to me!

Sewing this black totebag with a kantha stitch, patchwork dancing girl motif has been cathartic for me in these dark times. Sewing has brought a sense of calm and peace over me. I am excited to make this bag for a dear friend. Hope she enjoys it as much as I have enjoyed making it for her. The plants around the bag is a watermelon plant that my seven year old son has planted. The purple plant I believe is easy to grow - I have to figure out its name.

The kantha embroidered, patchwork dancing girl Tote Bag in ecru is ready and packed for a dear friend! I made a little rustic tag with bits of recycled paper and it reads ‘Handmade with Love’ - I hope you love this as much as I loved creating it! I like to keep the packaging minimal, I feel the packaging material inevitably lands up in the garbage. Less use of materials and upcycling is what I like to do. I tend to keep and reuse little bits of ribbons and knick knacks. I have wrapped the bag in white paper and fastened it with a black upcycled ribbon. I hope she likes the bag!

I am embroidering the dancing girl figurine motif on a black background for a dear friend. The design of the dancing girl is quite complicated. I didnot find any white carbon paper so i tried to draw the design freehand with a white pencil. I needed to go back to the design again that I had sewed on white so as to go over the lines again to get the sewing started.

Embroidering the dancing girl figurine motif on a black background for a dear friend. The block printed base fabric is upcycled from old kurtas (long shirts) that I have worn a decade back. It is a rich orange block printed fabric commonly found in India. I donot like to discard those fabrics so I upcycle them and embroider a contemporary tote bag that has a functional purpose. The color combination is a lime green, bright pink, fuchsia, white and a purple border. Hope it turns out well!
