This weekend is Illyfest! It’s a two day combination river cleanup event and boat race on the Illinois River.

Saturday is race day and Sunday is the cleanup day.

Cleanup Details
Sun Apr 26, 10:00 - 3:00

There are 3 different cleanup sections
A. 8 Dollar Put in to 6 Mile
B. 6 Mile to Ring Beach
C. Low Water Bridge to Miami Bar

They are also looking for folks willing to pull invasive weeds.

This is not our event in anyway, but we do have a lot of shared interest in keeping our rivers clean.

The unhoused camp on 6th & A St. no longer has their large water tank! The city never provided them water, it was a local non-profit. Unfortunately, they no longer have the funds to continue the service.

Thankfully, Newman United Methodist Church has given them access to one of their spigots to refill these jugs. The residents have to refill their two jugs constantly throughout the day. Please consider dropping off bottled water, popsicles, and drinks.
