I asked one of our hard working students to be the first to read a book from a series new to our library, Yasmin by Saadia Faruqi. She loved it and has read two more. She recommends it to everyone 😊

Thank you to everyone who came out to Barnes and Noble for the Grand View book fair! Classroom libraries will be growing! If you weren't able to make it but would still like to help, there is an online fair that continues for another week. Inbox me for more information!

What a great opportunity to buy a book for your child (and for yourself, too) for Spring Break! Mrs. Cook will be there from 5-7 and she will be reading a story at 6:00. Hope to see you there!

12 students joined me in the library for our 5th Grade Book Club this past Thursday. All twelve enjoyed the book Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks. The discussion about cultural differences was wonderful! I highly recommend this book!

This is such a great article!!!!!

It's science: Reading out loud to your kids makes them smarter and kinder The best thing is that it’s completely free, it takes just 10-15 minutes a day, and anyone can do it.

The winner of the 2019 Newbery Award is...

Merci Suarez Changes Gears by Meg Medina! A copy is already on the way from Amazon to our Grand View Elementary Library!

Our second graders have been reading possible choices for the 2019 Caldecott Medal since early December and I can't wait to tell them who won (and it is one that we've read)! Snow days have messed up the timing of their voting but it will be priority number one when we return to school so I can tell them the winner! Until then...shhhhh 🤫
