Every single time you have a thought, your brain releases chemicals.

Every time you have a sad, hopeless, mad, cranky, unkind, judgmental, or helpless thought, your brain immediately releases chemicals that make your body feel awful. Your hands get cold and wet, your muscles get tense, your heart beats faster, and your breathing becomes shallower. Additionally, the activity in your frontal and temporal lobes decreases which negatively affects your judgment, learning, memory.

The opposite is also true – whenever you have a happy, hopeful, loving, kind, or positive thought, your brain releases a completely different set of chemicals. Your hands get warmer and dryer, your breathing becomes deeper and more regular, your muscles relax, your blood pressure decreases, and your brain works better.

So, if you want to eradicate depression, anxiety, and negativity from your life, you need to work on disciplining your mind to get rid of the ANTs and developing an ANTeater to patrol the streets of your mind.

Start questioning your thoughts, write them down, talk back to them!

More Music for Little Mozarts (May Wed. session) Your 2-5-year-olds will love learning music with Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse! We had a fun lively class today practicing ostinato ( a repeating musical pattern) with "Brother John" and the "Irish Jig", and reviewing melody pitches on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear have even more fun in store for us next week !

Music for Little Mozarts class this week !

The idea for Itsy Bitsy Music initially transpired 5 or 6 years ago when my oldest daughter was a toddler: I thought it would be a fun activity we could do together. Now she is past preschool age but still loves the songs and classes! And she is an amazing assistant: she made all the copies for this weeks' class and helped me gather materials and practice the music. My girls both love Itsy Bitsy Music; I am so thankful!

Only 2 days until our first March class begins! It's not too late to sign up for "More Music for Little Mozarts"- don't miss out on the fun!

My girls previewed some of the music for our March class today: we have a fun mixture of classical favorites such as Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as well as energetic pieces like "Mr. Elephant's Funky Dance" and "The J.S. Bunny Hop". They can't wait until our first class starts!

MORE Music for Little Mozarts !

In this all-new class, Pachabel Penguin and J.S. Bunny join our friends Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse in teaching us even more about music! Through songs, stories, and lots of instrument play, we will learn quarter and half notes & rests, ostinato, musical form, and beginning solfege. (Classes are 45-minutes and will be held in two 4-week sessions: students can sign up for March or April or both. Each class will cover new material, but prior classes are not prerequisites as we will incorporate plenty of review).
