Thank you all! Not only have I now officially been elected, but this super important bond issue easily passed.
I’m so excited and honored to serve this district, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
We are excited to share that the Grandview C-4 School District's $50 million No Tax Increase Bond Issue has been overwhelmingly approved by voters. We appreciate the community's unwavering support towards enhancing our school district. Preliminary results indicate a 71% approval rate.
Thank you for investing in the future of our students and our community!

Just about a week and a half to go!
When I went through this 2 years ago I was equal parts excited and anxious. I had loved my six months of interim service and desperately wanted to continue it.
I was absolutely gutted when election results came in and I saw I had lost, and by a mere 32 votes.
It took me months to get over the bitterness and sadness of that loss, and just under a year later I decided it was time to at least go back to the monthly school board meetings.
People had no idea how nervous I was when I walked into the board room and took a seat in the empty audience area. An absolute mess inside! But after seeing the faces of people who were clearly happy to see me back in there, I was in no time feeling like I was “home”.
Sort of.
I was clearly sitting on the wrong side of the table, and that night I knew without a doubt I would be running again in 2024!
I’ve spent the last year attending nearly every open board meeting (just missed 1 out of 13), and in the fall I started attending board workshops (something the public may attend, but definitely never does). I knew that WHEN I won my next election, I wanted to come in the most prepared board member I possibly could.
I’m running unopposed on the ballot, which means I’m in full excitement and zero anxiety mode right now! Ask me on April 2nd if there’s any anxiety and there might be a tiny hint of that (that 32 vote loss sure sticks with me), but it’ll still be mostly excitement.
I cannot wait to serve my district and community in this capacity. I’m immensely proud to live here and send my four kids to these schools, and will forever be excited to see and help the district continue to push ahead for its amazing kids and teachers.
If you live in Grandview or Martin City, I’d love your vote to really seal the deal! And while you’re at it, give the Grandview School Bond issue a “Yes” vote - no tax increase and a solid plan to continue to update our aging facilities and provide the things our kids need and deserve to excel!

This afternoon I spent some time with a bright and compassionate 5th grade class at Belvidere Elementary! I read this book to them and then we had a great conversation about ways they can and do help in their homes, school, and community.

Another chance to support the arts at GHS!
This district-wide event guarantees a night of our talented students delivering some Sweet! Hot! Jazz! Can't wait to see you there!

This past Thursday I attended my 11th General school board meeting in the last 12 months. As the meeting ended, I thought to myself “just one more to go as an audience member…”
Yesterday the election packets from the Jackson County Election Board and the Kansas City Election Board arrived at my home. While I’ve known (officially) since December that I would be on the ballot, there’s something very surreal about seeing it in print!
Do you notice in the circled area that there are only two of us listed and you may also vote for 2? We’re both running unopposed!
I still need to be elected though (as does Leonard, a wonderful, long-time board member) and considering I went through election loss heartache two years ago (losing by just 32 votes), I refuse to assume I can just coast through this.
Signs are being made right now to sprinkle around Grandview and Martin City! If you live within the district and would allow me to plant one in your yard next month, leave a comment here or send me a message please!

The musical at Grandview High School this weekend is so enjoyable! Job well done by those hard working kids!
One more chance to go support them, Saturday night at 7pm.

I love seeing community partnerships like this!
Earlier this week a gentleman in our community was talking to me about the upcoming election, and he asked me what "big problem" I want to change/fix if elected. I didn't even have to think about my answer....
Nothing.
In the 11 years I've had children in these schools, I've witnessed a lot of positive strides and upgrades in our district. There's always more work to be done, of course, but that's true in all facets of life - don't become complacent, instead find ways to always be improving!
Rather than coming in with a laundry list of things I want to see changed and changed right away, I'm approaching this as the opportunity to once again come alongside some phenomenal people to continue carrying out the vision. I'm so excited to see what the future holds for the Grandview C-4 School District!
