All packed up and heading east! Excited to spend the weekend over on the east side of the state for the Michigan Emmy Awards tomorrow night in Detroit. 🤞

A pretty large tree did come down at my apartment complex in Grand Rapids during Thursday’s storms. Doesn’t look like it did a ton of damage to the building thankfully.

Today’s weather is well deserved after the heat, humidity, and strong storms. Enjoy! ☀️

The severe threat for Thursday night has ended. All clear!

7:40 PM: A Tornado Watch is likely coming (95% chance) for West Michigan.

4:44 PM: Things are still coming together for a rather active night in Michigan this evening. The thunderstorms over Illinois and Iowa are the main event. There is some question as to how strong these will be when they arrive but we should all be paying attention to the weather this evening.

Severe risk today (June 11)

Timing: 5 pm to 1 am

Hazards: Damaging winds (biggest risk), hail and tornadoes

NEW: NOAA has declared that an El Niño has formed in the Pacific Ocean. El Niños typically impact our Winter weather more in Michigan.

A large number of power outages tonight. In total, there are nearly 95,000 Consumers Energy customers without power in the state.

This is not good news because there will likely be more severe weather on Thursday.
