🎉👏 Celebrating Our Team While Giving Back! 👏🎉

Our Total Fire Protection and Total Fire & Security teams from Fort Myers and Sarasota recently came together for a Field Appreciation Luncheon—and it was one to remember!

From great food to a dunk tank where our managers willingly took the plunge, the day was all about celebrating the incredible people who make our company successful. Even better, together we raised more than $1,600 for Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, proving what’s possible when a team comes together for a great cause. ❤️🏡

A huge thank you to our generous vendors— HVAC, Core & Main, Milwaukee Tool, Viking Group, Inc., and Colony—for the amazing giveaways, and to Lombardough's Pizza & Beer for helping make the event a success.

Most of all, thank you to our incredible field crews. Your hard work, dedication, and teamwork are the foundation of everything we do. We appreciate you! 👏🔥

Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Small Devices, Big Responsibility

Fire extinguishers are often the first line of defense against small fires, but they only work if they’re properly maintained. According to NFPA 10, commercial fire extinguishers require:

🧯Monthly visual inspections to ensure they’re accessible, charged, and undamaged

🧯Annual maintenance performed by a certified fire protection professional

🧯6-year internal inspections for certain dry chemical units

🧯Hydrostatic testing every 5–12 years, depending on the extinguisher type

Regular inspections help identify issues like low pressure, corrosion, missing safety pins, or blocked access—before they become a problem during an emergency.

At Total Fire Protection, we help keep your extinguishers compliant, maintained, and ready when it matters most.

🔥 Annual Inspections Keep Wet & Dry Systems Ready When It Matters 🔥

Your wet and dry fire suppression systems are critical to protecting lives and property—and they require annual inspections to perform properly. These inspections verify that pipes, valves, alarms, air pressure, and water delivery components are functioning as designed, even in extreme conditions.

The main difference comes down to what’s inside the pipes before a fire occurs:

* Wet systems hold water at all times for immediate discharge.
* Dry systems hold air or nitrogen and only fill with water after activation.

At Total Fire Protection, our certified technicians inspect both wet and dry systems to identify leaks, corrosion, pressure issues, or obstructions before they turn into costly failures. Regular inspections help ensure code compliance, reliability, and peace of mind year-round.

Don’t wait for an emergency to find a problem. Inspect. Maintain. Protect.

🚒 What Is an FDC and Why Does It Matter? 🚒

An FDC (Fire Department Connection) is a critical part of your fire sprinkler system. In the event of a fire, firefighters connect their hoses to the FDC to supplement the building's water supply and maintain the pressure needed to fight the fire effectively.

That means your FDC needs to be:
✅ Accessible
✅ Clearly marked
✅ Free from damage and obstructions
✅ Regularly inspected and maintained

A blocked, damaged, or neglected FDC can delay emergency response when every second counts.

At Total Fire Protection, we help ensure every component of your fire protection system—including your FDC—is ready when it matters most.

🔥 Keep it visible. Keep it accessible. Keep it ready.

🌱🚨 Does Your Backflow Need Attention? 🚨🌱

If plants are starting to grow off your backflow… it might be time to give TFP a call.

Backflow preventers are critical for protecting your fire sprinkler system and water supply—and when they’re neglected, corrosion, leaks, and failures can follow. Regular inspections and maintenance help keep everything operating properly and up to code.

At Total Fire Protection, we’ll make sure your backflow is protected before nature fully takes over.
