One of the most valuable benefits of an HRC strategic advisory engagement is access to a community of leaders committed to building stronger organizations.
Through our Collaborative Connections Roundtable, clients come together each quarter with HR Collaborative consultants Kym Hess and Sarah Zevalkink to discuss complex workplace challenges, share successes, and explore practical solutions with peers who understand the realities of leadership.
Facilitated by trusted advisors who partner with organizations on strategy, ex*****on, and organizational change, these conversations offer fresh perspective, meaningful connections, and actionable insights leaders can put to work immediately.

87% of employees worldwide are disengaged.
We asked our HR experts what's one mistake that companies and organizations keep making that causes disengagement. Here's the short of it:
• Asking for feedback and ignoring the responses
• Skipping or overlooking leadership development
• Leaving employees with no path forward
• Allowing pay to feel unfair.
Disengagement does not happen overnight, and naming the root cause can be challenging.
HRC helps organizations identify the disconnect and build systems that realign people, priorities, and direction.

Today we're celebrating Caitlin Moyer and her two-year anniversary with HR Collaborative! 🎉
As our Operations Project Manager, Caitlin plays a vital role in helping HRC move forward with intention. She brings structure to complexity, keeps projects on track, and helps bridge the gap between day-to-day ex*****on and long-term strategy.
Beyond her work, Caitlin is a driving force behind the employee experience at HRC. Whether she's supporting colleagues behind the scenes, coordinating team activities, or creating opportunities for connection, she has a way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
We'd also be remiss not to mention the homemade sourdough loaves Caitlin occasionally brings in, which never seem to last long around the office. 🍞
Thank you, Caitlin, for all you do. We're lucky to have you as part of the HRC team. 💛

As organizations grow, the gaps in their people systems become harder to ignore.
Join us for our June Collaborative Café, The Hidden Costs of "Good Enough," as we explore how HR systems, processes, and infrastructure can either support growth or create unintended risk. We'll examine the connection between HR operations, legal exposure, compliance, and business performance as we discuss how leaders can build a stronger foundation for the future.

Most leaders don't realize their HR function is slipping until it shows up somewhere expensive.
Turnover rises. An employee relations issue surfaces. A team quietly disengages.
June is the time to get ahead of it. A mid-year HR review tells you where things stand before the second half accelerates:
1️⃣Are your compensation and benefits still competitive?
2️⃣Have performance conversations actually happened or just been scheduled?
3️⃣Is your culture what you think it is?
4️⃣Are you retaining the people you can't afford to lose?
As a People Strategist at HR Collaborative, Paul Brohman partners with business leaders to understand workforce needs, connect them with the right HR expertise, and help align people strategies with business goals and employee success.

If you're a business operator in West Michigan, you may be thinking something feels "off" in the labor market.
Hiring has stalled and employees are staying where they are, but not necessarily because they want to. And here's kicker: according to the BLS nearly 1 in 3 job postings never lead to an actual hire.
The good news is that West Michigan is projected to lead Michigan in job growth through 2032. There's an opportunity there but winning it starts with investing in your people's development right now.
HR Collaborative help organizations build retention and development strategies that work in a market like the one we're currently feeling. West Michigan is our home, and we're watching it closely.

This graduation season, we're proud to celebrate learners of our own.🎓🎊
Over the past two months, participants of our inaugural Foundational Leadership Development Cohort dug into the conversations that matter most for newer and emerging leaders: strategic planning and KPIs, coaching and delegating, conflict navigation, financial acumen, moving from Doer to Leader mindset and more.
Every session was reflective, practical, and built for challenges leaders face every day. Each graduate earned their certificate, and they walked away with a new lens on what it means to lead with intention.
Congratulations to this first cohort. You set the bar high!
We're looking forward to resuming sessions this fall 😉 Stay tuned for more details.

Here are four considerations when writing a workplace flexibility policy:
1️⃣ Define What Flexibility Means
2️⃣ Establish Flexible Work Eligibility Requirements
3️⃣ Focus on Accountability
4️⃣ Prioritize Remote Work Security & Risk Management
Without clear guidance, managers apply different standards, employees compare experiences, and flexibility becomes a source of frustration instead of a competitive advantage.
Build a workplace flexibility policy that drives business results. Read Lauren Stielstra's full breakdown 👇
https://bit.ly/4xdH1G7
What Every Workplace Flexibility Policy Should Include Employee wellness has evolved. It’s no longer defined solely by benefits packages, wellness stipends, or the occasional mental health day. Today, wellness is fundamentally about whether work actually fits into people’s lives and that’s where flexibility comes in.
