This past weekend members of our team were thrilled to participate in the 2026 Hungry Hippos on Ice Tournament at Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.'s World of Winter Festival at Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink.
Blox was thrilled to be a supporting partner of this year's event and we are so proud of our Newco Design Build and Blox team members for there willingness to play a highly challenging game with intense competition.

We had a great morning at the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce’s Business for Breakfast, focused on Muskegon In Motion – Recreation Along the Lakeshore.

If you love this area, you already know how much there is to do. From running with Run Muskegon to boating at Harbor Towne Marina, volleyball, baseball, winter activities at Muskegon Luge, and the incredible shoreline, the Lakeshore is active in every season.

We also heard tourism updates from Bob Lukens of Visit Muskegon that confirmed what many of us are seeing firsthand. People are choosing Muskegon for the experience. They are coming for the water, the trails, the parks, and the sense of community.

One of the most interesting conversations centered on the Great Loop voyage, the 6,000-mile boating adventure that connects the Great Lakes, inland rivers, and the Gulf Coast. Fun fact: those who complete the entire route are called “Loopers,” and they fly a special flag to mark the achievement. Many spend close to a year making the journey, and Muskegon is a key stop along the way.

When recreation and tourism grow, so does opportunity. At Blox, we think about how flexible, right-sized spaces can support that growth, whether it’s waterfront concessions, incubator spaces, pop-up retail, ticketing, offices, or gathering spaces.

An outstanding day to get a project closer to completion. With the help of Drone Technology Command sharing our story through pictures, our team was able to successfully begin setting containers for a new restaurant coming to the Cassopolis area. We are thrilled to introduce you to what will soon be Mike’s Pizza Garage.
We have loved every minute of this project. Building relationships and supporting the growth of a small community while getting to know an incredible business owner and tremendous local community advocate. We are fortunate to work with the business owner and most importantly we are thankful for the Blox team who are skilled at what they do and are able to bring these dreams to fruition. 

We had a great visit today from Mathew Peterson of John Ball Zoo, who stopped by for a tour and some future-planning conversations with our Newco Design Build and Blox teams.

We’ve had the opportunity to work with the zoo on the Guest Services Building, Stroller Barn, and Zoo School, and it was wonderful to have him here talking about what might come next.

Also, a few fun facts we can’t keep to ourselves:
• The zoo has a 32-year-old bear who was rescued after a very mischievous past as a canning factory thief
• They employ 50 biologists doing incredible work behind the scenes
• Many of their birds are rescued and given a safe home
• And the chimpanzees know the value of your cell phone. Getting it back is basically a negotiation with the mafia.

We love working with organizations that make our community stronger and more interesting. Looking forward to what’s ahead.

We made sure to get our mark on the ice early in preparation for victory at next Saturday’s Hungry Hippos on Ice competition.

A smaller footprint doesn’t limit creativity. ADUs and shipping container homes are proof that simple never has to mean ordinary. Thoughtful design, smart layouts, and innovative materials can transform smaller spaces into beautiful, functional places to live, work, or create.

Right-sized living is about possibility, not limitation. When every inch is used with purpose, smaller spaces can deliver comfort, style, and flexibility that rival traditional homes. Great design has never been measured in square footage.

We’ve been busy behind the scenes at Blox and Newco Design Build, and the results are starting to show.

Our showroom is getting a major refresh and will soon include two new container spaces, an ADU, and an office and pop-up retail combo. The goal is simple. To create a space that shows what’s possible when smart design meets practical construction.

We’ll be planning a ribbon cutting with the Grand Rapids Chamber in the coming weeks and will begin hosting networking events onsite. This will be a working space, a gathering place, and a place to explore ideas in real time.
