A DCC Story: STEM Beyond the Classroom 🌿🔬

This summer, our Design Connect Create girls discovered that STEM doesn’t just happen in a classroom—it is "all around us".

Through field experiences at The Wetlands, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and BioLabs, girls had opportunities to explore STEM in very different environments—from observing ecosystems and collecting data in the field, to engaging with science exhibits, to seeing spaces where scientists and innovators are doing real-world work.

These experiences are an important part of the DCC journey. When girls can see, touch, question, investigate, and experience STEM for themselves, science becomes more than something they study. It becomes something they can imagine themselves doing.

For some, a field trip may spark a new interest. For another girl, it may introduce a career she never knew existed. And for another, it may simply reinforce a powerful message:

There is a place for me in STEM.

At Design Connect Create, we are creating more than summer experiences. We are creating opportunities for girls to explore possibilities, build confidence, and see themselves as the scientists, engineers, problem-solvers, and innovators of the future.

That’s the DCC story—connecting girls to experiences today that can shape what they believe is possible tomorrow. 💗🔬

The City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is hosting a gathering centered on the theme “Be True to Self.” This is a great opportunity for youth to engage with their peers, build leadership skills, and be part of meaningful conversations in their community.

Our board and leadership team recently came together for a strategic planning session focused on strengthening our vision, expanding our impact, and creating even more opportunities for the girls we serve.

🧬 Pipettes, DNA, and plenty of curiosity! Our students at Balch Spring’s Young Women’s STEAM Academy got hands-on with biotechnology, learning new lab skills, extracting DNA, and discovering what a future in STEM can look like. 💙🔬

STEM + teamwork + creativity = an amazing first half of camp! 💜

This week, our RISD CTE campers built robots, explored the exciting world of drones, and learned from the Richardson Police Department during a hands-on drone demonstration. Watching these future innovators grow in confidence and curiosity has been the best part!
