We had such a great time today as our Palominos were officially sorted into their houses! 💙💚 From our 5th graders all the way down to our littlest learners, every student now has a house to call home!

We can’t wait to see the friendships, teamwork, school spirit, and memories that grow throughout the year. ❤️💙💚🖤

The 2025–2026 accountability ratings are in, and Powell Elementary continues to be an A-RATED CAMPUS! ⭐️

Maintaining an A rating is something worth celebrating. It reflects the continued hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the support and partnership of our Powell families.

And there’s even more to celebrate…TWO Distinction Designations in Academic Achievement in Mathematics and Postsecondary Readiness! 🏆🏆

Powell parents and staff, we need your help creating a BIG surprise for our Palominos as they return to school! 🐴❤️

We want to fill the sidewalks around Powell with colorful, encouraging messages to welcome our students back and get them excited for an amazing school year! 🌟

🖍️ Bring your own sidewalk chalk, or we’ll have chalk available outside for you to use! Chalk will be available out front beginning Sunday at 8:00 PM and will stay out through Monday, so stop by whenever you have a chance and add your creativity!

And don’t be afraid to FILL THE SPACE! 🎨 You can chalk:
✨ The sidewalk directly in front of the school
✨ The entire walkway leading up to the entrance
✨ The walkway extending all the way down in front of the cafeteria

The more colorful, the better! ❤️💙💚💛

Write encouraging messages like “Welcome Back!” “Have a Great Year!” “You’ve Got This!” “Dream Big!” or “We’re So Happy You’re Here!” Add hearts, stars, rainbows, smiley faces, Palominos, pictures—anything that will make our students smile!

🤫 We’d LOVE for this to be a surprise for our students! If you’re able to sneak away and come without your kiddos, please do!

All Powell parents and staff are welcome! Come write one message or cover a whole section—we’d love to see those sidewalks FULL! 🥰

✨ What a fantastic first week back! ✨

Our Powell Elementary staff has been busy building relationships, learning together, attending an inspiring district convocation, and preparing our school for an amazing year.

One of the highlights was being sorted into our Ron Clark House System houses! 💙💚 We can't wait to use our houses to build community, celebrate one another, and create an incredible culture for our students.

Now, all that's missing are our Palominos! 🐴 We can't wait to welcome everyone back and kick off an unforgettable school year!

At Colin Powell Elementary, every student will become part of one of our four Ron Clark Houses—Amistad, Altruismo, Isibindi, or Réveur. The best part? A house chooses your child! 💙💚❤️🖤

The House System is more than friendly competition. It helps students develop leadership, responsibility, character, teamwork, and a strong sense of belonging while creating lasting connections across our campus.

To our students and families — thank you for bringing the energy, excitement, teamwork, and smiles all day long! It was wonderful seeing everyone having such a great time together.

We were also lucky to have absolutely perfect weather, and the rain held off until the very end of the day! 🌤️💦
