The Stuhr Museum 250th July 4th celebration is just around the corner.

We as a club have been given permission to set up a Rendezvous/traders camp near the Pawnee Earth Lodge.

Camps and traders are allowed to set up primitive style camps from Friday evening until Sunday morning for the event.

The Museum has a lot of different events happening throughout the day during the celebration. Ending the evening with the a Fireworks show just to the south of our Camp location.(front row seats for the show)

If you plan on attending please contact Jeremy Knott.

There will be restrooms/porta potties and water access close.
Also plan on no in ground fires.

UPDATE! Many have asked about fires at Red White and Blue……well we have been blessed with over 3 inches of rain so far……and more on the way. So the club has made the decision to ALLOW fires for the event.

If you are going to have a fire, you are required to have a filled fire bucket (3 gallons at least). Or a fire extinguisher. Also a shovel is a good idea.

No unattended fires.

Pictures from the Flatlanders College. Had 16 people attend, 11 camps. Was a great weekend of learning and sharing knowledge. And the much needed rain was welcomed with open arms! Skab did a friction fire class and several people left with working bow drill sets. Frenchie demonstrated Beaver skinning and fleshing. A couple people jumped in and finished it up. Tim not only packed in on his horses and mule, but then shared with everyone how to do it.

It then poured buckets of rain on us and the standing water gave us a chance to have a safe camp fire. Cooking on a camp stove is ok….but over a fire sure changed the mood!

Because of the rain we weren’t able to get any shooting in. So tall tales and a card game or two were had.

Overall a great weekend and hope to see more of you at the next one.

Ole Tim Gibbens getting ready to pack into the Flatlanders College this weekend! How are you prepping your gear? Which area you planning to camp in? Are you packing in? Setting up in the primitive area? Or just dipping your toes in and bringing the tin tipi or your nylon tent? A place for everyone. But is shaping up to have the makings of a grand ole time!
