The beginning of and end of a great day of progress with an extensive modification to this concessions counter at a middle school in Princeton, Tx.
Remove existing pass through counter section, extend both left and right side of backsplash and weld in new shorter pass counter section. Not too bad for 6.5-7hrs worth of work.
Will return Wednesday to clean all of the welds and install the stainless trim (after it is modified to fit) followed up with trimming out a kitchen hood at the new elementary school across the street. This will be followed up with a project in Waco at a food bank, another in Georgetown and then another in Spicewood, just outside of Marble falls, Tx.
Life is great and, so is work!! 👏👏

Fun little project from yesterday.
Customer requested this existing pass through trim and countertop to be removed and replaced with new section of countertop and new trim. This was done for three reasons.
1- student safety. (Existing trim had sharp edges all around)
2- sanitary (Existing trim and countertop were not secured or sealed properly)
3- aesthetics (proper reveal and finish)
I really love doing these types of jobs. They always provide one type of challenge or another and keep the skills sharp.

This decorative stainless arch was just one of many unique stainless steel features I was contracted to build for this beautiful modern Alaskan home.
The cable railing above was one of my first installations to the exterior with its own unique challenges.

Today’s project had me drive out to Georgetown, Tx to weld and polish the factory field joint on the dish table in a brand new elementary school being built.
You never know exactly how well things are going to line up or fit up with walls or any equipment that ties in with them and believe it or not, there’s almost always something that takes a little extra know how to get it right.
I love my craft and all of my amazing customers.

Pics of a recent countertop modification at a new school in Princeton, Tx.
Reason for modification was to enlarge the space on the left and right sides of the counter where the roll up door rails will be installed.
The manufacturer did not make the openings large enough for proper fit.
I had to remove the entire pass through counter along with removing a full inch of the main countertop and rebuilding the pockets on left and right side and then welding an entire new pass through counter to the existing counter.
These types of jobs are fun for me. I really enjoy the technical challenge of figuring out how and where to cut and remove material in a way that allows me to put it back together and make it look like it never happened.
Cool

Job location- Bethel, Alaska
Ayaprun elementary school.
Issue- supplier did not take into consideration that the pass through counter could not be installed in one piece do to the right hand corner being an acute angle.
Resolution- remove top, cut top in half, level base cabinet and install top as intended. Tac, weld, grind and finish field joint. Install hot well and sneeze guard and call it a day!!
