Time to post the update. Philip Broyles has been in the hospital 23 out of the last 27 days. This visit is on day 13 with the “when we get to go home” uncertain.
He is current getting his latest CT to see how things are looking inside. He has been fighting off two infection with abscess. One has been blocking his intestine not letting anything through so about five days ago we started the IV nutrition called TPN. Having gone almost a month with no intake of any nutrients they are still trying to find the correct balance. The doctor explained to me that even though this will help him a lot to reach recovery, it is a very fine line, and if they overdo it he could wind up with CO2 in his body and wind up on a ventilator. So yeah, we are being very careful.
Some good news, his blood cultures came back and they were able to identify the bacteria and are currently treating for that specifically with the correct antibiotics! In other GREAT news, the tumor was not cancerous. It is however a tumor that can return and can be seriously damaging as we have seen, BUT because it isn’t cancer it will not spread to other parts of his body!!!!!!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🥳🎉👏🏻👏🏻🍾🍾
So here I sit, waiting for him to come back from another CT, with hope in my heart. I’m tired. So so tired. He has been struggling with finding anything positive but I have been fighting for his life and joy nonstop. He’s having a good day today and that makes me happy. Yesterday was not a good day. Every day is a challenge. You don’t ever expect to find yourself here out of the blue, your world falling down around you. Alexis and I are strong and we are holding things together at home as best we can. She is my Little Rock!
I want to give a shout out to my best friend Jessica Mitchell-Shihabi and her husband Jamil who drive up from California this week just to help me and Alexis. Jamil has helped up with some home repairs that were mid way when Philip got here and he has cooked us dinner every night!!! I want to cry when I think about how generous they have been. I only hope that one day I can find a way to show them this much love.
Also to my other best friend Britney Brittney Senn for all of her help and support with my animals and coming to groom my poor Shisher who desperately needed it!
The battle is ongoing and will be long after we are allowed to go home. Philip will be on TPN for at least 90 days. We are applying for FMLA but it is a nightmare so we will more than likely be running into money problems before it all gets sorted. It’s all very difficult and stressful but we have each other and as always that’s all we ever need. Shoot him a message, give him a call. He needs encouragement and it is hard to be the only one giving it. Oh, and a thank you to Mackenzie, our estranged daughter for coming back into his life. It has been a blessing for him that I will always be greatful for.
That’s it for now I think!!!🤪🤪
***picture relevance…. The other day I told Mack I would trade houses with her, she said no. “You have remodeled that house so much that is too weird now!” Jess and Jamil making a little table out of my fireplace…. Because we don’t have a kitchen table anymore.🤣🤣🤣🤣✔️
And cats…. Because..cats

After 10 days in the hospital and two emergency surgeries, my husband is finally home. I can’t begin to tell you how good it feels to have all of here together resting and enjoying the quiet after such a huge and traumatic couple of weeks! Lots of healing left ahead and building up strength. He lost 19 pounds! And he wasn’t over weight. I am so beyond relieved to have him home. Let us please just have a little quiet time now.

Hi everyone. I’m going to keep this brief as it is personal. My husband went into the hospital on Monday and had emergency surgery and is currently having another emergency surgery. This is an extremely frightening and stressful time for me. I know I have a few of you waiting for your kittens and with appointments to pick up this week. My daughter is flying in at midnight to help out so I will hopefully be tablet to keep those appt. But if not I will message and we can sort it out. Thank you for your understanding.
