Helping people create, and improve their podcasts. We answer podcast questions

Hey guys! I just dropped a new episode of Podcast Answers, and today I am talking all about how good microphone technique will make your show sound a whole lot better. You can have the best or worst mic in the world, but your audio quality really comes down to how you use it.
I share my personal rules of thumb, like keeping a consistent 4 to 8 inches away from the mic, speaking slightly off-axis to avoid harsh plosives, and using a pop filter. I also explain why I prefer using in-ear monitors to check my audio levels without looking like I'm doing a radio show with big, distracting headphones!
If you are watching the video version, you will get a front-row seat to my frustration when my Rodecaster crashes and reboots the exact second I start the live stream! Sometimes you just have to roll with the flow.
What are some of your favorite tips for getting great audio? Let me know in the comments, reach out at podcastanswers.com/contact, or leave me a voicemail at 574-501-4945. Have a safe week and keep on podcasting

New Episode Alert!
This week on Podcast Answers, we are talking all about meetups and why they are the secret to growing your show.
Sometimes podcasting can feel like a lonely endeavor where you are just talking to the ether, and listening can feel isolating for your audience, too. Hosting a meetup transforms those isolated listeners into a connected community and personal friends.
In this episode, we cover everything from low-pressure coffee shop hangouts to virtual gatherings on platforms like Zoom and Discord. We discuss how getting your fans together builds stronger brand loyalty, helps with word-of-mouth growth, and can even generate new content ideas for your podcast.
Tune in to hear my top tips for hosting your own event, whether you want to start small with a virtual Q&A session or go all out with a live podcast recording.
Want to experience a meetup firsthand? Join the Podcast Answers community for our weekly Office Hours! We meet every Monday at noon Eastern to hang out, connect, and answer your podcasting questions. Sign up at podcastanswers.com/officehours.

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of editing a podcast? In our latest episode of Podcast Answers, I am pulling back the curtain to explain the exact choices I make when editing audio.
I break down my entire workflow, starting with why recording multitrack on a Rodecaster Pro is an absolute must. I also dive into how I bring those tracks into Adobe Audition to process them using gates, compressors, and limiters to get the perfect sound.
Even though I prefer a "live to tape" mindset with minimal editing, I share some of my favorite time-saving tips for editors. You will learn why you shouldn't cut out all the natural pauses in a conversation, and why I tell my clients to stay completely silent for 15 seconds after making a mistake so it is easy to spot on the timeline.
How do you edit your podcast? What does your workflow look like? I would love to hear from you in the comments, or you can reach out to me at podcastanswers.com/contact if you need help editing your own show
