8th place Agricultural Education CDE: Zarai Sanchez!

Congratulations Zarai!! For this contest Zarai got a taste of the teacher life. She had to write a lesson plan, record herself delivering it and write a reflection essay. She was then selected as a top 10 finalist to compete here at state!! Here, she had to demonstrate soil texturing as well as engage in different practicums in FFA and SAE.

This is Zarai’s second year being a finalist and she got one place higher than last year.

STATE DEGREE RECIPIENTS 🎓

Less than 2% of all AZ FFA members receive their State Degrees. This achievement has taken years of involvement in leadership activities, over 300 hours in SAE time, and represents four years of being the some of best and brightest DE FFA has to offer. We hope that you continue to the path of earning the coveted key of the American FFA Degree!

STATE DEGREE RECIPIENT: Abby White!! 💛💙

Abby is one of two State Degree Recipients from Desert Edge this year! Abby has served as an officer for our chapter, been highly involved in all FFA activities available and has had a robust SAE. On top of being one of our most involved members, throughout high school she has also stayed involved in her school community, sports, and on top of all of it has held a job. Abby is a mentor, encourager, and inspiration to our chapter. She plans to attend ASU in the fall. We are going to miss your contagious laughter and your kindness.

We are so thankful for all your work and dedication to your chapter! We wish you all the best and can’t wait to hear about all the great things you accomplish!!

Desert Edge’s FIRST EVER State Officer Candidate: Kodee Barker!! 💙💛

This past week, Kodee has been representing the Desert Edge FFA chapter as our first ever State Officer candidate. This role has taken months of preparation and a very packed week here at SLC. No matter the outcome, we are so incredibly proud of her journey and her choice to run for office. She has been a trailblazer, inspiration, and a mentor for her chapter.

In addition to this, she is also one of two State Degrees awarded this year. Kodee has been one of our most involved members, attending every FFA event possible while having robust SAEs and working a job. We are going to miss you dearly. We are so thankful for your time with us and wish you all the best!!

Big weekend for Greenhand member Brody Solano!

Brody competed and placed 6th in FFA information where he had to memorize facts about the history of FFA and competed in a quiz bowl style event.

Today, Brody was given his gift of blue in front of the entirety of Arizona FFA. Brody reminded us of the importance of being united and then we had the honor of seeing him zip up his very own FFA jacket for the first time.

We are so excited to see where the jacket takes you!! This is just the beginning of your journey. Congratulations!

Our Greenhand member Ricardo Alvarez had a big day yesterday!

He was awarded the gift of blue in front of the entirety of Arizona FFA. He read a speech about what the jacket means to him. We then got to see him zip up his very own jacket for the first time.💙

On top of all that, he completed in novice extemporaneous speaking yesterday, which means he had to create a speech on the spot and present it.

It sounds like we have a future public speaker on our hands! We are so proud of Ricardo and all his accomplishments. 🗣️
