Honey Garlic Steak Bites
Ingredients:
• 2 pounds steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
• Salt and pepper
• 2 tablespoons oil
• ¼ cup honey
• ¼ cup soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon minced garlic
• ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
Directions:
1. Cut steak into bite-sized pieces. I like to use sirloin but whatever you have will work, just aim for something tender. Pat the pieces dry with a paper towel. This helps them get a good sear. Season generously with salt and pepper.
2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak pieces in a single layer. Don’t overcrowd the pan to insure that each piece gets seared. Let them cook undisturbed for a minute or two, then flip. I cook them rare to medium-rare, since they will continue to cook when added back to the pan. Make sure not to over cook it or they’ll get tough. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
3. Then, add green beans or vegetables of choice to pan. Sauté till tender. About 5 minutes for the green beans. Remove from pan.
4. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant (be careful not to burn it!).
4. Next, add in the soy sauce and honey, stirring well to combine. Let the sauce bubble gently until it thickens slightly. If you like a little heat, sprinkle in the crushed red pepper flakes.
5. Add the steak bites and green beans back to the skillet and toss them in the glaze until they’re coated and warmed through.
*I serve ours over rice.
*if you want extra sauce for dipping, just double the soy sauce & honey and let simmer a little longer to simmer.
My pocketbook took a dent that day 🙃🍣
