Kansas Task Force 7 is one of 7 Urban Search and Rescue Teams Located within the State of Kansas. TF7 is in the Northwest Region. Its host agency is Sherman County Rural Fire Department located in Goodland, Kansas.

Today 9/13/2025 Task Force 7 took part in Western Partnership 5. This is a yearly joint training with a rotating host location in the Northwest region. Members from Sherman County Fire Dept, Hays Fire Dept, Ellis County EMS and Ellis County Fire Company 5 meet together and practiced a full BoO (Base of Operations) Deployment, Finished Skills verification check offs for Technical Search Specialists with Delsar and Search camera work and participated in a simulated exercise with a Search marking system called SARCOP.

Operation Western Partnership 4.

KS-TF7 members from Sherman County FD, Hays FD, Northwest Kansas EMS and Ellis County EMS, as well as Firefighters from Ellis County VRC, Trego County FD, Ellis County EM and Trego County EM joined together yesterday.

This training evolution was held at the Cedar Bluff Dam. All scenarios were probable or actual previous incidents per the facilities manager Troy Mattheryer.

Crews competed all scenarios in a timely manner further enforcing the interoperability and capabilities of the team.

We look forward to further trainings together to further our skills and work together often. Thank you to everyone involved!

Yesterday Hays Fire Department and Sherman County Rural Fire Technical Rescue team members had our 2nd Annual joint team training hosted this year at the Goodland Fire Training Site. Team members were challenged with a “structural collapse” scenario. Both groups worked hard. Initially “locating” the “victims”. Then working to free them from the rubble. Looking forward to next year!
