Idaho Gives! Do you?

The National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest is a volunteer run organization that brings fiddlers from across the world to the small town of Weiser, Idaho.

It is thanks to the generous support of our fiddle family that we can continue the legacy of fiddle music in Weiser and beyond. Help the music play on by donating at https://www.idahogives.org/organizations/national-oldtime-fiddlers-inc

Friday, May 1, 7:30–10:30 pm

Skandia First Friday Dance, 7:30–10:30 pm, Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W., Lynnwood, WA. $15; $10 for Skandia members.

Judy Patterson and Jerry Walsh will teach Finnskogspols, a pols dance from an area east of Oslo, Norway. The dance is found on both sides of the Norway and Sweden border. A feature of the dance is its unusual rhythm, with 2 long counts and a short third count. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB1RJaVBBRk

The band for the evening will be Bokpojkar, the fiddle duo of Peter Michaelsen and Joe Finn from Port Townsend, playing a wide-ranging, dance-friendly repertoire from across Sweden and beyond – including Hallingspringar tunes played by Peter on hardingfele and dances from Jämtland.

Bokpojkar’s close harmonies and grounding in Swedish tradition promise an evening of delightful music for dancing. They look forward to playing to the percussion of Skandia dancers’ feet on the Cedar Valley Grange floor.

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” — Matthew 6:25
