Exciting new research published on injectable, self-healing hydrogel with tunable optical, mechanical, and antimicrobial properties. The self-healing capability of the hydrogel was demonstrated by rheology tests, and quantitative force measurements using a surface forces apparatus (SFA). The paper provides molecular insights into the self-healing mechanism of Schiff base reactions.

Congratulations to Tianyi Han from Tsinghua University for graduating from the SFA Boot Camp training program. Tianyi’s training focused on:
General SFA use
A introductory training program
Covering mica cleaving and gluing
Achieving SFA contact and good FECO fringes
Performing force runs (attractive forces- VdW on clean mica in air and repulsive forces- KNO3 solutions at different concentrations)
All to support his future research in multivalent salt solutions. He did a great job!

What we do.
SurForce was founded in 2002 by Jacob Israelachvili and is the supplier of the Surface Forces Apparatus (SFA). We also offer measurement services, training, additional lab equipment, and maintenance. The SFA 2000 and uSFA are fully customizable solutions for research in surface forces.
They are capable of simultaneous quantitative measurements of both physical (including electrical) and chemical interactions between two surfaces close together from the macro‐ to the subnano‐scale, and under both static and dynamic conditions. The SFA 2000 and uSFA and only available from SurForce.
