Step into the world of Future Fossils, a solo exhibition by our Studio Technician, Austin McCormick.
“Future Fossils” are speculative excavations of cultural remnants that critique our current material consumption, industrialization, and the climate crisis. This immersive sculptural environment invites viewers into a shared space of curiosity, prompting a vital question: will what we leave behind reveal an era of conflict, or one of mutation and hybridity?
Austin McCormick is a multi-disciplinary artist from the Southern California mountains, working primarily in Los Angeles. Having been raised both on construction sites and in a ballet school, Austin has been influenced by process, craftsmanship, music, and movement. After graduating as valedictorian from Art Center College of Design, Austin started his career as an artist, fabricator, and illustrator. His work ranges from abstraction to representational, and functional to decorative.

At Maker House, we believe everyone should have access to self expression through clay. Last year, more than 300 students were able to participate in youth programs and adult classes with the support of tuition assistance.
Thanks to our community’s generosity, including our $10 Pot Donation program and dedicated donors, we’re able to continue expanding access and helping more people join our studio, regardless of financial circumstances.
Our next session of classes is just around the corner and scholarship funds are available. Apply for tuition assistance through the link in our bio.

We host private lessons! Whether it’s a one-on-one, birthday party, anniversary, or corporate event, come celebrate at Maker House.
Your instructor begins the two-hour lesson with a brief demo to get you set up and then you’ll have the rest of the time to practice with an unlimited amount of clay. At the end, each participant selects one or two pieces, a finishing color, and our staff will fire and glaze it for you. Open to all levels and ages.
More information about private lessons on our website.
