Our amazing PAC members are on their way to Sacramento for the Student Lobby Conference! Congrats to our EVPSA candidate Victor Garcia , Presidential candidate José Magaña and senator candidate Cameron DeMille for doing amazing work this weekend for all UCSB students!
Fellow Gauchos,
Recently it has become aware to us that a UCSB Election Memes page has been circulating around Facebook. Candidates and party members have been slandered and personally victimized by hateful rhetoric, and this is altogether unprofessional. The Peer Action Coalition at UC Santa Barbara was founded on the basis of productivity, advocacy, and community – and we cannot stand idly and watch such acts of hatred divide our university.
Though Associated Students elections can be a divisive and emotionally demanding time, we URGE you all to look past the slander and focus on working together as a unified community in combatting hate speech. We send our love and support to those who were attacked, and hope to work with them in the near future to make sure that this ends.
