Like a lot of things we do, Fireside Chats was an off the cuff idea. We didn’t set out to make a podcast, maybe it’s not a podcast. But in its proper order, we go surfing first.

The latest Surfings Tools is live! In Episode 3, Gary Larson of Hobie Surfboards hangs in the shaping room at the iconic Dana Point shop on Hwy 1 and shares the subtle details behind clean craftsmanship, specifically highlighting a trick he uses on his stringer lowering block planes.

Gary goes into depth about stringer wood, the importance of apprenticeship, and how he’s working to pass along the knowledge shared with him by Steve Boehne and Terry Martin.
