We walk with the broken and are invested in discussions on solutions. We have children in adult facilities and have seen an increase in children being charged as adults. Why does this matter? People make decisions without having conversations with the people, organizations and youth. We have an adult system managing children with few services addressing the root issues or better yet, addressing the root issues before they even enter into a prison system.

Almost all of our children in adult systems have experienced trauma and will be released into the community at some point. We at Hope In Motion have identified this service gap and are committed to bridging this gap. Through a trauma-informed approach, we have heard youth in these facilities share their stories and talk about solutions. It’s time to come together as a community, collaborate and see how together, we can create safer communities.

Half of incarcerated women in Maricopa County jail are victims of trafficking, survey finds 04/06/2026

Sharing as our youth sometimes end up here. We see a high volume of trafficking victims on the juvenile side. Great to see agencies collaborating together to meet identified programming needs.

Hope In Motion was recognized as an Outstanding Community Partner last week for the 3x since we started in 2022.

Sharing for God’s glory alone and as a testament of His love for His children in facilities ✨ Since starting, we have seen communities unite, programming increase, youth voice increase, and we have seen more family-centered care.

At our holiday giving event at Adobe yesterday, youth were treated as leaders and each unit was given the opportunity to learn about local community-based resources, as well as select a cause Hope In Motion will be donating to on their behalf. Here are our stats from yesterday:

- 8 units and 98 youth chose to participate
- 28 staff attended
- Units selected 8 organizations
- 89 youth shared written and verbal responses in response to the open-ended question that was asked about how they would choose to better their communities.

Youth identified the main general areas they would like to change and support:

-Homeless/food resources (51 youth identified this area)
- Animal shelters
- Children
- Cancer treatment/hospitals/medicine
- Churches
- Schools
- Foster care
- Toys

Youth also verbally shared creative ideas about how to create safer schools, address homelessness, and address gun violence. Some additional things that were written:

- "Buy basketballs for poor kids who have a dream to play basketball."
- "Open a 24/7 homeless shelter"
- "Hold a barbeque in a community park for the homeless where we provide food, drinks, fun activities, and just spend time with the homeless."
- "Make bus stops safer and more comfortable for the homeless."

All of the youth we work with will be released at some point and we believe they can be positive leaders in their communities. Yesterday, all of the youth were engaged, wanted to give back, and many shared positive experiences with volunteering on previous occasions.
