After the Anger, What Next?
In this episode of Conversations on Groong, Hovik and Asbed speak with Arthur G. Martirosyan about Armenia’s post-election situation after the June 7 parliamentary vote.
The preliminary results give Civil Contract the lead, but the opposition is contesting the outcome. Prosperous Armenia is fighting for the small margin needed to enter parliament, while the final mandate count could affect whether Pashinyan secures a 3/5th majority.
We discuss:
• Was this a free and fair election?
• Why did high turnout not deliver an opposition victory?
• What does PAP’s 0.004% fight mean?
• Are arrests and threats becoming tools of rule?
• How much did Western support matter?
• Why did Russia react so late?
• Should the opposition take its mandates, go to court, or move to the streets?
Arthur Martirosyan argues that the election cannot be judged only by election day. The full picture includes the pre-election pressure, arrests, media control, invalid ballots, recounts, and whether Armenia’s courts can act on their own.

Armenia’s June 7 election is over, but the mandate remains under dispute.
Civil Contract declared victory while major questions remain: the sudden drop of Prosperous Armenia below the 4% threshold, more than 17,000 invalid ballots, opposition arrests, late-night voting reports, and the political meaning of a possible three-fifths majority in parliament.
In this Week in Review, Hovik and Asbed discuss what happened on election day, what the ODIHR report says, how foreign powers reacted, and what choices now face the opposition.
Was this a democratic mandate, or a managed outcome?

When votes become evidence, elections stop being free.
In this Spotlight on Silence episode, Rafael Ishkhanyan joins Groong to discuss Armenia’s election environment and the latest reports from the Armenian Center for Political Rights.
We examine selective law enforcement, wiretaps and leaks used against opposition figures, alleged administrative-resource abuse, the use of hate speech laws against critics, and threats against opposition leaders. We also discuss new concerns that 25-day military training summons are being used to discourage Armenian citizens from coming to Armenia to vote.
We also look at the targeting of Artsakh Armenians, a displaced and vulnerable community that has already lost its homes, security, and way of life.
