The purpose of Midwest Border Collie Rescue is to rescue unwanted, abused, lost and abandoned border collies.

MWBCR is dedicated to saving the lives of Border Collies and Border Collie Mixes. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and rely on donations and fundraising events to care for our foster dogs. We are all made up of about 15 volunteers who give our time, and dedication to help as many dogs as we can. We also help to educate, and provide referrals for resources to keep dogs in their homes, with their families.

Does your border collie love being the star of the show in a crowd?

We’re looking for the ultimate spokesdogs to join us at the Midwest Border Collie Rescue booth this Friday, June 12 at the Lake Zurich Farmers Market in Paulus Park from 3–7 PM!

Bring your best buddy to strut their stuff, chat with fellow BC lovers about our rescue, and help us raise funds so we can keep saving border collies and border collie mixes. Every tail wag makes a difference!

Don’t worry about a thing — I’ll have the booth all set up and ready to go. You just show up with your awesome border collie (or mix!) and let them shine.

While you’re there, enjoy the Lake Zurich Farmers Market with fresh local produce, tasty food, and fun gift items. It’s the perfect summer Friday evening!

Ready to make your border collie a local celebrity? Email me at [email protected] to sign up your spokesdog today!

🐾 Thinking about adopting a dog? Preparation is one of the best gifts you can give your new family member! 💝

Bringing home a rescue dog is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming for them. Taking a few simple steps before they arrive can help set everyone up for success and make the transition smoother. 🐶

Every dog needs time to decompress, learn the rules of their new home, and build trust. Creating a safe, secure environment from day one can help prevent unwanted behaviors and reduce stress for both you and your new dog.

Take a look at our available adoptable dogs on our website!

📸 Additional footage from Jesse’s hotel adventure…

We’re pleased to report that Jesse survived his first elevator ride. 🛗😂

He explored a brand new hotel, navigated automatic doors, rode the elevator, and was an all around excellent travel companion.

Not every dog handles new environments this well, and we’re so proud of how adaptable this boy has become.

Now we’re hoping his next destination is a home of his own. ❤️

🏡 Available for adoption. If you can’t adopt, please share!

🐾 Looking for a new adventure buddy & professional love bug? Meet MURPHY! 🐾

If you’re looking for a dog who will happily join you on every walk, car ride, backyard adventure, and cuddle session, Murphy may be your perfect match!

Murphy absolutely loves being outside and would thrive in a home with a large fenced yard where he can finally enjoy having a space to call his own. He’s a social guy who enjoys the company of other dogs and enjoys playing with other dogs, making him an excellent candidate for a home with one or two playful dog siblings.

At around 60 pounds, Murphy is convinced he’s actually a tiny lap dog. He loves being close to his people and has earned the title of certified love bug. 🥹💓

Murphy is a smart boy who learns quickly, takes direction well, and already knows some commands and tricks. He currently knows sit, down, come, over, spin, and paw. His foster family is also working with him on “wait” and “leave it”. He would love a family committed to continuing his training and helping him reach his full potential. He can be strong on leash, but he has made great progress with consistency and enjoys both walks and car rides.

Murphy is:
✅ Dog-friendly
✅ House trained
✅ Crate trained
✅ Daycare approved
✅ Smart and eager to learn
✅ Affectionate and people-oriented

Because of his size and enthusiasm, Murphy is looking for a home with adult children only.

Murphy has so much love to give and is searching for a family who will give him the active, fulfilling life he deserves. Could that be you?

📩 Apply to adopt Murphy through Midwest Border Collie Rescue or send us a message to learn more!

❤️ Want to help more dogs like the ones pictured here? BECOME A FOSTER! ❤️

Every dog in these photos has something in common: They got their second chance because someone opened their home to them!

Midwest Border Collie Rescue is a completely foster-based rescue. We do not have a shelter building or kennels. Every dog we save lives in a foster home while waiting for their forever family.

That means one simple truth:

🐾 When we have foster homes, we can save dogs.
🐾 When we don’t have foster homes, we have to say no.

WHAT DOES FOSTERING MEAN?

❤️ Providing a temporary home for a homeless Border Collie.
❤️ Helping us learn about their personality, needs, and ideal home.
❤️ Giving them a safe place to decompress, heal, play, and thrive.
❤️ Saving not just one dog, but creating space for the next dog who needs help.

We know fostering isn’t always easy. You may shed a few tears when they leave. But, every adoption creates space for another Border Collie in need… and that’s how lives are saved.

If you have Border Collie or herding breed experience, understand the breed’s unique characteristics, needs, quirks, and can provide a temporary home, WE NEED YOU.

The dogs in these photos were once the dogs waiting for help, and now the next success story is out there waiting. Will you help us reach them?

📩 Message us to learn more about becoming a foster, or apply to foster on our website.

JESSE’S TRAVEL UPDATE: 10/10 stars. 🌟

Jesse recently conquered his first hotel stay, complete with elevators, automatic doors, and a brand-new environment!

His review:
🚗 Great passenger
🏨 Excellent hotel guest
🐾 Polite adventurer
❤️ Professional snuggler

Jesse can be a little nervous when faced with something new, but one of the things we love most about him is how he takes it all in stride. Give him a minute to process, and he’s ready to keep moving forward.

His travel report card?
⭐ Quiet in the car
⭐ Well-behaved in the hotel
⭐ Adaptable and eager to learn
⭐ 100% good boy

Now all he needs is a place to call home. If now isn’t the time to adopt, please share! 🐾❤️

‼️ JESSE NEEDS YOUR HELP ‼️

Jesse is a 2-year-old Border Collie mix who has been waiting far too long for a place to call home. 🥺

After a rough start in life, Jesse has blossomed into a smart, affectionate, and loyal dog. He’s housebroken, walks well on leash, eager to please, and has proven to enjoy being around other dogs. He loves rolling in the grass, carrying around his favorite ball, snuggling with his people, and joining in on adventures… or, even just relaxing on the couch!

Jesse is looking for a quiet home with adults or older teens who understand herding breeds and can provide the structure that helps them thrive. Because of his herding instincts, he’s not a fit for homes with young children or cats.

💙 Smart
💙 Snuggly
💙 Dog-Friendly
💙 Housebroken
💙 Ready for a fresh start

Jesse urgently needs an adopter. He’s an amazing dog who simply needs the right person to give him a chance!

Jesse needs our help finding his people. If you’re not in a position to adopt, please share this post. Every share increases the chance that the right person sees him. ❤️🐾
