Cowboy Clean Fuels was born out of more than a decade of research at the University of Wyoming’s Center for Biogenic Natural Gas Research, and that connection to scientific research continues to shape our work today.
Ongoing collaboration with researchers and technical partners remains an important part of how Cowboy advances its BiCRS + RNG platform.
As the carbon removal industry continues to evolve, strong research partnerships help ensure that projects are not only commercially viable, but scientifically grounded and continuously improving.
We are proud to continue building alongside Wyoming’s research community as we work to advance durable carbon removal and clean energy production.

At Carbon Unbound East Coast, Cowboy Clean Fuels spent time connecting with other CDR project leaders and buyers working across the carbon removal ecosystem.
A highlight of the conference was the reception we hosted alongside EcoEngineers, Mangrove Systems, Absolute Climate, Xpansiv, and Climate Vault.
It was a great evening bringing together partners across the value chain, and featured Cowboy as a success case study highlighting how strong collaboration plays a critical role in bringing CDR projects from concept to market.

Cowboy Clean Fuels’ Triangle Unit project has been selected to join the Climate Vault Solutions carbon removal portfolio after completing a rigorous, multi-phase technical review led by its independent Technology Experts Chamber.
This makes Cowboy the first Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) project included in this highly curated portfolio and one of only six projects approved across multiple procurement cycles.
For buyers, this means direct access to a differentiated class of durable, geologic carbon removal credits from a project that is already operational in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin and independently vetted for scientific rigor, permanence, and verification integrity.

Recent U.S. energy data shows that electricity demand climbed in 2025, driven in part by the rapid growth of data centers and electrification across the economy. In fact, data center energy use and corporate clean energy agreements are playing a meaningful role in shaping power markets and investment patterns.
This shift highlights a broader trend: energy demand is rising at a time when reliable, low-carbon supply and carbon mitigation strategies are increasingly important. As technologies like AI and cloud computing expand, power markets must adapt, and durable carbon removal and low-carbon energy solutions are an important part of that transition.
At Cowboy Clean Fuels, we are focused on both sides of this equation: producing renewable natural gas while removing and storing carbon in a measurable and verifiable way. Solutions that support reliability and environmental outcomes will matter as energy demand continues to evolve.

Where to Find Cowboy This Spring!
We’re on the road this season showcasing Cowboy’s carbon removal and RNG technology—developed and deployed in Wyoming and now ready for expansion.
Catch us at these upcoming events:
➡️WEA’s Next Frontier Energy Summit — May 5–6 Laramie, WY (Bronze Sponsor)
➡️Energy Capital Economic Development Conference — May 7 Gillette, WY (Table Sponsor)
➡️Carbon Unbound East Coast — May 19–20 New York, NY
If you’ll be at any of these gatherings, we’d welcome the chance to connect and share how Wyoming‑born innovation is scaling into a new frontier of carbon removal and renewable natural gas.
More updates ahead as we continue expanding deployment and building carbon‑negative energy solutions.

A great evening in Gillette with our Operations team. Nights like this remind us that progress isn’t just about projects and milestones, it’s about the people who make them possible. The connection, collaboration, and shared commitment across this group drive our work forward every day.
We’re grateful for a team that brings skill, discipline, and heart to everything they do and makes it a privilege to work alongside them.
A new peer-reviewed article in the Chemical Engineering Journal is the first scientific publication to directly validate and describe our BiCRS+RNG technology—a major milestone as we scale deployment in the Powder River Basin. Co-authored by Cowboy Clean Fuels Co-Founder Michael Urynowicz, the paper highlights BiCRS+RNG as a commercially emerging pathway that produces renewable natural gas while permanently sequestering CO₂. This recognition from one of the highest-impact journals in the field reinforces the technical foundation behind our work and the market opportunity ahead.
In parallel, Cowboy’s Methods for Microbial Gas Production and Use as an Isotopic Tracer patent has been officially issued in Australia, further strengthening the IP foundation supporting this technology.
