Gillette autocross

I looked at the central Wyoming Motorsports venue in Douglas and unfortunately the parking lot isn’t in good enough condition for us to have events there. I will continue to look for a suitable venue and suggestions are always welcome.

Sorry I haven’t given an update in a while, but life has been busy and I haven’t had anything to update with. Today I met with the Johnson County airport board in Buffalo to see if we would be able to rent their facility for our events. Unfortunately their airport gets too much traffic to accommodate us. I will continue to reach out to local venues I feel have adequate space to accommodate our events and hopefully we will have some luck. If you have any venue recommendations please share them and I will look into them. I really hope we will be able to have some fun this summer.

Quick update. The Cam-plex got back to me and said they only have one weekend available next year so that’s not going to be an option. I spoke with the Buffalo airport and they recommended I attend the next board meeting on the 21st, unfortunately I will be out of town for work that day but I plan to attend their November meeting.

Here is an update, I wasn’t able to get a definitive answer from the Cam-Plex. They want more time to think of other possible concerns and to discuss what kind of deposit they would need to protect themselves from damage. I’m hoping to hear back from them in the next few weeks. I’m going to reach out to the Johnson County airport in Buffalo next week to see if we can rent their space.

Update. I have a meeting scheduled with the cam-plex for the 27th to discuss logistics.

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve given an update but here is an update. I have reached out to the airport and the cam-plex asking if they would rent us space for autocross. The airport doesn’t sound very promising but that was expected. I’m optimistic about the cam-plex but I haven’t received a definitive answer yet. Hopefully we will get a definitive answer from the cam-plex soon and let’s hope for some luck with the airport. I’ll give another update when I hear back.

I want to give a quick update. I spoke with another person from SCCA last night and they will be getting some information together to help us secure a venue in Gillette.

Thank you to those who have posted that you want to participate in autocross. We now have 10 people and volunteers for leadership roles. We have submitted site acquisition forms to SCCA and we are hoping to hear back by Friday. If anyone has any influence with the airport and could help us secure that as our venue we would greatly appreciate it! We will continue to post updates as we get information. Thanks for your support and assistance.

We are happy to see our community has so much interest in autocross! We have selected our local leadership and we are now waiting to hear back from the director of solo with SCCA to assist us with securing a venue. Anyone interested in participating in autocross is invited to join our meeting at First northern bank above the local coffee shop on Monday July 1st at 5pm. We will be there to answer any questions you might have. We will also cover rules, chapter requirements, equipment needs and select chapter leadership. We are excited to bring this fun event to the community and provide an opportunity for people to further enjoy their cars.
