Our Story

Magpie Designs is an eclectic brick-and-mortar store from Gillette, Wyoming selling home décor, unique gifts, and one-of-a-kind wares from local artisans for the stylish shopper. There’s truly something for everyone at Magpie.

Magpie Designs opened in October, 2014 as a way to source Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to the Gillette community. We have been proudly refinishing furniture, teaching others our techniques, and, hopefully, keeping good pieces of furniture out of the landfill! We adore our customers and hope to recreate their vision for furniture they entrust to us.

Magpie has evolved into a lifestyle store. A place you can feel comfortable buying a unique gift for a friend and also something for yourself. It is our hope that when you step foot inside our store you feel welcomed and want to stay awhile.

On any given day you will be greeted by the resident 3 year old and her new baby brother. Tara, the owner, feels fortunate to be able to work with the community providing unique goods and services, while still getting to raise her babies by her side. This is a privilege and one not taken for granted. Coming into Magpie might mean you’ll spot a toy or two on the ground and there is a good chance that Avery is pretending to be a dinosaur in the back. This is life, this is our life, and we invite you into it.
