And our summer plans are underway! This week we will be in Riverton at the CWC college, for our first overnight vocational workshop! We have a packed schedule of events! Our kids will be exhausted by Friday morning! Stay tuned!
Up next, Gillette College! Followed by Lander, and then our two week social skills workshop in July! There has been a great interest in our workshops, but I am trying to give some of our participants who have never attended a priority to attend. If we have any openings left, I will be reaching out to those who have expressed interest in attending.
For the last five or six years, I have had the opportunity to attend the Division on Career and Development Training Conference (DCDT). The DCDT international conference is composed of state agencies that work with individuals transitioning out of high school and into adulthood! It's one of my favorite conferences I have ever had the privilege of attending! When I worked at BOCES and the school district, they allowed me to attend. This conference is held twice a year throughout the US. This is an international conference, so you have people from all over the world attending! This past year, they had one in Denver, and Laura and I attended!
At this conference, I told my sister that next year I'll be coming back, but as a presenter. I told her that someday, I will have the opportunity to present on our ABLE services. At the beginning of the year, I submitted an intensive proposal to the DCDT committee and expected nothing! It was a long shot! Thousands of proposals are submitted from all over!
Well, believe it or not! I WAS SELECTED TO PRESENT! This tiny little Mexican from little old Gillette, Wyoming, was selected to present at an International Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, in October!
I don't even know what to think! This is unbelievable! Ready or not, here we come!!!!

One of the most frustrating things for us is struggling to find businesses willing to give our kids a chance. We are deeply thankful to all the businesses that have opened their doors and offered our kids an opportunity to grow and succeed!
With that being said, we are just going to start providing work opportunities for our kiddos!
Introducing ABLE's Lawn Care Services. If you need someone to mow, w**d, pick up dog doo, or tidy up your yard, please consider giving our participants a chance! 100% of the payments will go directly to them. Our main goals are teaching hard work and boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
If more businesses see how reliable, hard-working, and dedicated our kids are, they will be willing to open their business doors.
