First schooling show since getting back into the swing of things is in the books! There was a lot of rust to be knocked off and we definitely made some chips at it, but there’s a long way to go still. Looking forward to continuing the progress!

We got out and jumped our first jumps in two years. Rei was a little ✨EXCITED ✨ and while all four feet did not stay on the ground, I did stay in the saddle and we ended on a good note. It was a blast to feel her jump again though and I’m excited for the season!

Practice what you preach.

As Rei and I have finally gotten in some consistent riding this last week, I’ve found myself benefiting from all the lessons I’ve been teaching as it’s helped me be aware of my own riding as we knock the rust off.

Like, what do you mean my right hand shouldn’t be drifting down to my knee? Or that my lower leg is in fact independent of my thigh and has its own job? 😂😂

Anyway, feeling thankful for the nice weather and the fact that Rei is beginning to act like a broke horse. It’s beginning to feel like our goals may actually be achievable this year!

Well we did it folks! Finally found someone who can sedate Rei without too much ✨drama✨! Thank you so much Clare, I can’t wait to see what Rei thinks of her new teeth with the bridle!

As I listen to the wind howling outside right now, I’m feeling very thankful for all of my students willingness to be flexible and adjust lesson times so we could get everyone in before the weather turned this week.

And I’m even more thankful for Flynn’s easygoing nature and his love of the outdoors that got him through the long hours at the barn that we put in the last couple of days. In return, he got a new book today! Now we get to catch up on some things over the next few days and hit the ground running next week with more lessons!

Can we make all vaccines have an intranasal option? Just gave Rei one and it took five minutes instead of the usual hour. Of course now she may not let me ever touch her nose again. 😂😂

Rei did surprisingly well for our second ride back. Not only was there no attitude, she gave me this lovely canter. Excited for this summer!
