Talk about impeccable timing!!

I saw this reel pop up on my feed from and I had to show you guys.

Just like I told you guys yesterday…there are MANY ways to get a hit, there are few ways to swing a bat.

Even with this move, I think there’s a time and place to emphasize it with certain hitters, but for the most part, I think the majority of players accomplish this move anyway.

it’s really just something good to know when you’re thinking about that acceleration and back speed in the zone and learning the proper way to swing the bat faster and with more authority.

This is just a confirmation post. You are on the right track, chat 💪🏾

If you get the 4 pack, you’ll save about $10 🤣

Two things:

1️⃣: MAXIMIZE REPETITIONS! (Gotta swing it and a LOT)
2️⃣: CREATE A FOCUS ON INTENTIONALITY (make sure they are swinging hard and with purpose. It’s a plus if they can visualize as well)

Young hitters have very resilient mechanics. They usually grow into good habits when they swing frequently where you can typically see the opposite from more seasoned ball players that have had their mechanics tampered with.

The only way to swing a bat faster is to practice swinging a bat faster 🤷‍♂️

I wanna be clear: I’m not one of those coaches that throws a bunch of things to the wall to see what hopefully sticks. I’ve done this for a long time, and I can STILL do this…trust.

But the way I teach is the way I teach because I know what the valley is like and I’m familiar with the mountaintop.

A man once told me: a smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

Once you understand how the hips influence the hands in the box…congrats, you now know how to swing. That’s a mere fraction of the game however. Hitting is what we’re after…

I’m sorry…I couldn’t take it anymore. You happy

Please stop teaching that dumb wrist snap move helping players rollover and top spin baseballs.

Bat lag is an AGE OLD concept. I’d even argue that there’s no such thing as matching pitch plane. The bat literally creates a new ball trajectory at contact. It is VERY rare that you see bat path match the flight of pitch plane. Imagine trying to match the pitch plane of Randy Johnson, Chris Young, Chris Sale, [place your favorite 6’5”+ pitcher here]. As hitters were turning the ball around…the only plane we need to worry about is the one that creates a line drives.

Bat lag does two things:

1. Buys a hitter time at the plate to recognize pitches
2. Keeps them inside the baseball to promote line drives and backspun baseballs

I’ll get this complete vid up on my YouTube

I’ll hop off my soapbox for now…

Derek Jeter 2️⃣ “The Captain”👨‍✈️

Are we looking at an era where gamers are going unnoticed?

Who else can you think of? Who would we have missed out on watching?

Sound on 🗣️

I tell my athletes all the time: In high school and college, this is the easiest time to separate yourself from the pack. People don’t know how to be “professionals”. They don’t know how to do the work, nor do they care to.

It’s a sacrifice that most are not willing to make and that’s okay. There’s also glory that they will never get to experience.

It was ALLLLLWAY the same solution my coach would propose. I’m in the box and he yelling at me from the dugout, “Wider! Wider! Wider! WIDER!”

By the time he’s at the 4th “wider”, I have my front foot on the chalk in the front of the box and my back foot is dang near on the back line.

What was the logic here? Simplify! If I can take out the need to pay attention to the lower half, that’s one less thing I had to worry about. And really, it all ties back to timing in one way or another. But I felt like I could wait on the ball longer, I could see the ball better, and my hips were FIRING to get that barrel going through the zone.

It wasn’t the sexiest stance but it alllllways got me back on track. So why not just hit like that all the time? Because I’m just like you…hardheaded lol.

In a nutshell:

I don’t believe that hitting with scissor kick is a good or bad thing. I think it’s simply a product of the intentions of that hitter during that swing. I’ve hit with a scissor kick and I’ve hit without a scissor kick but whenever I’ve done it, it’s not something I was conscious about.

I can’t tell you with full certainty, though that the times that I did hit with a scissor kick, I was making a concentrated effort to try to drive the ball the other way. So when you hear instructors talk about direction or extension they are talking about the intentionality behind what you’re trying to accomplish at the plate.

Naturally, most hitters, want to extend to the pull side. This is why we typically see home runs to the pull side.Without a doubt I can say that hitting with the scissor kick promotes the ability to drive the ball backside with authority.

STEP 1: Overload: place the donut on your game bat and take 25 swings consecutively.
STEP 2: Underload: take 25 consecutive hacks with your light bat or PVC pipe
STEP 3: Normal Load: take 25 consecutive hacks with your game bat.

Do this 3x per week for a month and see where it takes you. I’ve had players increase throwing velocity just by doing this.

Share the gold. Send this to a player or parent looking for a bat speed solution. I started doing this when I was just a young warthog in high school. Nothing new under the Sun. It’s still effective.
