When you try to speak to everyone, your message can lose some of its impact. But when you write with one specific reader in mind, your words become more personal and meaningful. This week’s Author Growth Lab tip is to write a post or email that speaks directly to one person and what they may be walking through right now.

Think of one real person, or someone who represents your ideal reader, and write directly to them. You might begin with, “To the one who feels…” or “If you’re carrying…” Name what they’re experiencing, then offer a simple word of truth or encouragement. You don’t need to say everything. Just meet them where they are. When a reader quietly thinks, “That’s me,” genuine connection begins.
