Hundreds of kids in our East Valley community had an absolute blast at camp through Sun Valley Community Church. They met adults who genuinely care about them, heard about a God who saves, and somehow managed to completely run themselves into the ground playing games all week. 🤪

One of my favorite parts of the week was how each morning started. Before the kids even fully made it into camp, we’d line the walkways with high-fives, bubbles, music, and a lot of effort just trying to make them smile when they walked in the door.

On day one, you can usually spot the nervous kids right away. The ones who aren’t sure what they signed up for. The ones who hang a little closer to home. The ones who aren’t quite ready to give you that first high-five.

But by the end of the week, it’s a completely different story. Those same kids are running and smiling, laughing, finding their people, jumping into games, and sad when it’s over.

The week was full of all the classic camp stuff. We had crafts, snacks, missions, large group teaching, and recreation (which I had the privilege of leading). Everything tied into the Kingdom Quest we were walking through together and pointing kids toward what God is doing in the world.

Recreation always teaches me a few things every year. Kindergarteners don’t need as many instructions as I think they do. Third graders will absolutely turn any game into the Olympics if you let them. Parachutes never miss. And water day is still undefeated. 💦

But honestly, it’s the volunteers who show up early, stay late, and pour into kids all week. It’s watching shy kids slowly come out of their shells and seeing friendships form in real time. It’s the small moments where a kid feels seen, included, and cared for.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your local church could use help, this is your sign that it probably can. There are always places to serve, always kids who need encouragement, and always opportunities to make a difference in ways that feel simple but actually matter a lot.

Prepare. Search. Make an Offer. The three stages of buying a home

Not every family dreams of having more space from one another. Some dream of having more space together.

Some of my favorite transactions over the last few years have been helping families find properties that can become a true generational compound. These purchases are unique because everyone involved is intentionally choosing to build a life together. There's always a lot of excitement, dreaming, and planning as families imagine what life will look like under one roof—or at least on the same piece of land.

There is also rarely a property that works perfectly as-is. That's part of what makes these transactions so rewarding. They require creativity, problem-solving, and a shared vision for what a property can become. It's about looking beyond what exists today and seeing the possibilities for the future.

Any one of those things would make for an enjoyable transaction, but when you get all of those elements in one deal—along with a fun group of clients who are excited about what's ahead—it serves as a great reminder of why I love this work. Helping families create a place where multiple generations can gather, grow, and make memories together is a privilege I never take for granted.

A big thank you to the Vilhauer family for allowing Stewardship to serve your family over the years and for trusting us to help with this unique purchase. We are grateful to have played a small part in this journey and look forward to seeing how this property grows and evolves alongside your family in the years ahead. 🏠
