On Tuesday, the Gilbert Town Council approved the Fiscal Year 2027 budget, and this year's process looked a little different. 💰
Every budget season typically brings exciting things to come. New parks, new facilities, new investments in the community. This year, the focus shifted to something equally important: protecting what Gilbert already has.
Gilbert's general fund is facing a $20 million annual loss in ongoing revenue. This is largely due to external changes at the state and federal level that are outside of the Town's control. Over five years, that adds up to at least $100 million.
Watch as we walk through exactly what's driving the shortfall, the priorities that guided every decision, and the tough trade-offs that had to be made to protect what matters most, including public safety, essential services, and the quality of life Gilbert residents have come to expect.
The bottom line: your core services remain reliable. Gilbert is planning responsibly, operating efficiently, and already looking ahead to 2028 and beyond to make sure this community continues to thrive.
As a resident, you play a role too. Shopping local and supporting Gilbert businesses, whether it's a neighborhood shop or a big box retailer, puts sales tax revenue back into the community. Every dollar spent within town limits helps fund the services that Gilbert residents count on.

Please break down your cardboard. 😀
Seriously. It makes a bigger difference than you think.
Breaking down boxes saves space in your recycling bin, ensures your bin empties completely, and can even prevent fire hazards. 🔥
Loose cardboard can get caught on the truck’s exhaust during collection, especially when bins are overfilled or boxes stick out the top.
A few extra seconds at home helps keep our drivers, equipment, and community safer. ♻️
