Meet Velma🦄

Velma is a BEAUTIFUL standard poodle. Her foster says that she is all joy and happiness, bouncing when she is very excited. Velma is perfect for car rides and walks beautifully on leash. She takes treats gently and is SO sweet with the dogs in her foster home and other dogs she has met. Velma has a full tail that is an absolute delight.

Pen had a growth on her neck and her belly removed and Brio had two growths of another kind (😉)removed. A little bit of preventative medicine for one and a little bit of therapeutic treatment for the other🩺 everyone is doing great post surgery ❤️

✨Ophelia Needs a Wheelchair✨

No one knows why Ophelia cannot walk but instead of dwelling on that we HAVE been given the “all clear” to get her moving by both her primary veterinarian and her neurologist🫶

Right now, with the help of harnesses and slings, she is building muscle and learning to balance and walk but there are only so many hours in the day we can be holding Ophelia up. She is held to walk, to play, to p**p, to check the yard when a new bird lands…she’s a puppy and we owe her that. (She would like me to add that she is standing unsupported for meals now because she’s amazing)

Her veterinary team has recommended a full support wheelchair to help her build strength and give her a place to rest while vertical to help her brain connect back to her feet standing rather than lying down as a part of her rehabilitation.

We know the are lots of homemade and less expensive options for wheelchairs but in our experience they don’t work as well and when you work with many high needs animals, efficiency is important so we want to stick with for her full support cart.

“We’ve Been Trying To Reach You About Your Car’s Extended Warranty” -Clover, probably.

Thank you Shelby for coming out and grooming Clover, Ori, and Pippa today. Clover appreciated you hand feeding her her medications today, she told me so 😉

Clover came to us last year with a significant injury to a hind leg that has given her a permanent limp. You guys rallied and helped us save her and Summer, another girl who was very very forgotten and in pain. Some days are better than others and while medication helps, we think a change in her environment might help too. Right now she gets daily morning turnout with alternating nights spent turned out. Clover and Ori are going to move to a property with 24-7 turnout to see if increased movement will help with her discomfort.

Fingers crossed we find this beautiful girl some relief.
