This week, a cat was diagnosed with a pyometra—a severe uterine infection that can become life-threatening very quickly.
Her owner knew she needed help immediately. She works in the veterinary industry herself and understood the urgency. The challenge wasn't recognizing the emergency. The challenge was finding care she could afford.
She called multiple veterinary practices and was quoted anywhere from $800 to more than $2,000 for surgery. When every hour matters, financial barriers can feel overwhelming.
Then she called Brookview Animal Wellness.
We were able to provide the surgery she needed that same day for $600 total, plus a professional courtesy discount. Most importantly, her cat received the care she needed before the infection became even more dangerous.
This is why we do what we do.
We believe pets deserve access to care.
We believe families shouldn't feel forced to choose between their finances and their pet's life.
We believe in reducing economic euthanasia whenever possible.
We believe veterinary medicine should be accessible, compassionate and transparent.
And we believe that sometimes the most important thing you can do is act early.
If your pet seems sick, don't wait because you're worried about cost.
Call us. Talk to us. Let us help you explore your options together.
Because waiting often makes conditions more serious, more expensive, and more difficult to treat.

Meet this handsome community cat.
Mary brought him to us for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). Like so many caretakers, she's doing everything she can for a feral cat who depends on her for food and a little kindness.
During his neuter exam, Mary mentioned he seemed uncomfortable when eating. Unfortunately, she was right. His dental disease was severe. Several teeth are causing him significant pain and need to be removed.
This is where TNR can become complicated.
The dedicated people who trap and care for community cats don't actually own them. They volunteer their time, buy food out of their own pockets, and provide care simply because they believe these cats deserve compassion. But even the most generous caretakers have financial limits.
At the same time, sending this boy back outside with a mouth full of painful, infected teeth doesn't feel right.
He deserves the chance to eat without pain. He deserves comfort. He deserves a little extra help.
If you'd like to support this sweet boy's dental procedure, any contribution—large or small—will make a difference. Together, we can help him return to his outdoor home healthier, happier, and pain-free.
❤️ Because every cat deserves a life without suffering, even if they don't have a family to call their own.

One of the hardest parts of veterinary medicine is seeing pets suffer longer than they needed to.
I understand why people wait. Life is busy. Money is tight. Sometimes you hope your pet will feel better tomorrow.
Sometimes they do.
But sometimes that small issue becomes a much bigger problem.
Far too often, pets end up at the emergency hospital because help wasn't sought when the first signs appeared. Emergency hospitals are amazing and absolutely necessary for true emergencies. They have advanced technology, specialists, and resources that most general practices don't have.
But they are also expensive—and rightfully so.
What breaks my heart is when a pet ends up there for something that could have been addressed days or weeks earlier at a general practice veterinary hospital.
Your pet depends on you for everything.
They can't tell you exactly what hurts. They can't explain how long they've been feeling bad. They can't decide to make a doctor's appointment for themselves.
They have to trust that you'll notice when something isn't right and get them the help they need.
That's why having a relationship with a veterinary team matters.
At Brookview Animal Wellness, we have worked hard to make care accessible because we want pets seen sooner, not later.
A sick pet exam is normally just $50.
Through the end of June, it's only $25.
We aren't offering this because we're trying to sell you something. We're offering it because we'd much rather see your pet when they're just starting to show signs of illness than when they're critically sick and suffering.
We want to help you today, but we also want to help prevent bigger problems tomorrow.
If you've followed us for any length of time, you know what we're about. We have never believed veterinary medicine should be only for those with unlimited financial resources. We understand budgets. We understand life happens. We understand that sometimes things are complicated.
What we don't want is for your pet to suffer because you were afraid to call.
So please, if your pet isn't acting like themselves, if they're uncomfortable, if something seems off, call.
Don't wait until it becomes an emergency.
Don't wait until your pet has been struggling for days.
Don't wait until your options become limited and more expensive.
Call on Day One.
For $25, let's start the conversation and figure it out together.
Your pet is counting on both of us.

If your cat is ever suspected to have FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), please know that euthanasia is no longer the only option.
There is now an FDA-authorized treatment available, and many cats are surviving and thriving with proper care. FIP used to be considered a fatal diagnosis, and while not every veterinarian can stay current on every new treatment or advancement in medicine, we want our community to know that there is hope.
At Brookview Animal Wellness, if your cat has been diagnosed with or is suspected to have FIP, we will provide a second opinion consultation at no cost before you make any end-of-life decisions.
We simply want families to know all of their options and help save lives whenever we can.
Please share this with fellow cat lovers, adopters, fosters, and rescue families. ❤️

Pyometra is a life-threatening uterine infection that can develop in unspayed female cats — often suddenly and without much warning.
About 1 in 45 intact female cats will develop pyometra in their lifetime, and when it happens, it becomes an emergency. Treatment usually requires immediate surgery, hospitalization, intensive care, and can cost thousands of dollars.
We often hear:
“She doesn’t go outside.”
“We were going to do it later.”
“We didn’t think it could happen to her.”
But the truth is:
The safest, least expensive, and most loving thing you can do is spay your cat before there’s ever a problem.
Spaying prevents pyometra completely.
No emergency surgery.
No suffering.
No heartbreaking decisions.
Don’t wait for an emergency to learn why prevention matters.

Lola and her sweet mom, Kaitlyn have fallen on hard times.
Lola found herself in a scary situation - a uterine infection (pyometra) which requires emergency surgery.
The cost she was quoted was far beyond her means so the ER thankfully referred her to us.
Lola had surgery and is recovering well. The total cost is $742 but Lola's mom only has $350. We will allow a payment plan but would like to help Kaitlyn out so she can focus on Lola's recovery and finding stable housing.
If you can support Lola and Kaitlyn, they would both appreciate it.
Donations can be made by calling in a payment (602.715.2401) or via Zelle ([email protected]).
We will update you all when we see Lola at her recheck.

When your child is sick, you don’t wait.
Why would we do that with our pets?
They can’t tell us what hurts. They can’t explain how bad it feels. They rely on us to notice—and act.
The “wait and see” approach often just means prolonged discomfort… and sometimes real suffering.
We get it—times are tough. That’s why affordable care matters. In many cases, getting your pet seen is far less than you expect (often less than a car payment).
Don’t wait. Not a day.
Call on day one. Schedule the appointment.
Best case? They improve and you cancel.
Worst case? You caught something early—and made all the difference.
ER and urgent care are vital—but they shouldn’t be the result of waiting too long.
Your pet depends on you. 🐾
