Invent, Design, Play: 3rd Grade STEAM
Our 3rd graders wrapped up the year by becoming math game designers!

As a final STEAM project, students combined creativity, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking to design and create their own board games focused on practicing multiplication facts. They carefully planned game rules, designed engaging game boards, and thought about how to make learning both fun and challenging.

To bring their ideas to life, students used Tinkercad to design custom 3D-printed dice and game tokens, adding a unique touch to each game. Once their creations were complete, they had the chance to play one another's games and see their designs in action.

From inventing and designing to testing and playing, this project showcased the incredible creativity, perseverance, and innovation of our 3rd graders. What a fun way to celebrate a year of learning in STEAM!

As an end-of-year STEAM tradition, our students took part in our Wind-Powered Regatta!

Every student K-5 put their engineering skills to the test as they designed, built, tested, and iterated their own wind-powered boats during their final STEAM class of the school year. Through creativity, problem-solving, and perseverance, they discovered that the first design isn't always the best designβ€”and that's where the real learning happens!

There was plenty of excitement, friendly competition, and cheering as students watched their creations race across the water. What a fun way to celebrate a year filled with innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning in STEAM!

Way to go, Discovery engineers!

Check out the amazing 3D prints completed by our 5th graders!

After studying the ocean in CKLA, students brought their learning to life in STEAM by designing and creating ocean-inspired 3D prints. From sea creatures to underwater details, students combined creativity, problem-solving, and 3D design skills on Tinkercad to showcase what they learned in a hands-on way.

We are so proud of their hard work and creativityβ€”way to go, 5th grade!
