A Way We Go

We are Stacy and Kyle hailing from upstate NY fulltiming across the country in our '06 Georgetown.

You will usually find us at battlefields, hidden gems, on trails & by the water more often than not.

We overnighted in Elm Creek, NE a couple of nights ago. It was a nasty, windy travel day with gas station craziness. We had another windy trip to tackle in the morning. Kyle had wrenched his shoulder a couple of days before. So between the wind and that, keeping it between the "mayonnaise and the mustard" ( The Runaway Peach ๐Ÿ˜‰) made it more interesting. What we thought was going to be a relaxing overnight rest before tackling it again in the morning turned into waking up to loud, constant banging on the RV and our phones' EAS blaring at 3 am. *Severe thunderstorms with up to baseball โšพ๏ธ size hail.* ๐Ÿคฃ We are up now! Keeping an eye on things and making an exit plan if we have to bug out. We did happen to catch the tail end on video when it was winding down, and the hail was about ping-pong ball size. You can hear it just pinging off of us.
Nebraska has been interesting to say the least.

We're on the road. A little later than usual. It's gonna be another windy drive.

In the midst of everything that I posted earlier about today's travel day shenanigans, something else came out of it.

I think we discovered a new travel day hack for us.
As everything was happening at Loves, we had some time to kill while they were figuring stuff out.
We asked the age old question. Dinner? We hardly ever overnight. So normally we'd pick up a pizza or something. We didn't want to unhook just for an overnight. He knew what he wanted from what we had but I had bits and pieces of ingredients of stuff I was interested in that I could make a ๐Ÿฅ— salad.
Needed protein though. So by Kyle's suggestion, after spotting an Arby's right there, "Grab some chicken tenders and throw them in fridge for later."

Now I'm enjoying my crispy chicken Ceasar salad๐Ÿ˜‹ It's the small things.

โœจ๏ธ What are ya'll cookin up good tonight?

*You can't make this stuff up!* Today's Travel ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ
**Thanks for reading to the end**

We were fighting the wind all day but we're stopped for the night. And just in time to catch the end of the Yankees game . ๐Ÿ˜

It was an interesting one, especially our gas stop at โค๏ธ Loves.

I went to get out to help line Kyle up at the pump and I couldn't get out! ๐Ÿคฃ The top bolt above the door handle wiggled it's way out a little too much. Putting loctite on the list. โœ…๏ธ Lol.

So, after that initial little bit of panic (on my end) we finally get out with a bit of force. Secretly hoping the door isn't going to go flying off the hinges ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Go in to pay for gas and as the cashier is ringing me up, he informs me that the pump we are on decided to glitch out. Asking if we could move to a different pump. Not possible. We are a 34' gas class A towing our Jeep. That was the only pump we could get into & out of safely. And as you know, backing up isn't an option. We could have gone forward a bit to the next pump, but then we would have been blocking propane and parking lot traffic.

So anyway. They totally understood and went out to reset the pump...

(SpongeBob narrator voice)
" 5 min-nuts later ..." (You've made it this far. Might as well keep going)

Soo... I GO back in to pay. We are almost done with the transaction. Swiped my card, payment went through and the register completely froze. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ They have our money and we still have no gas. So this one calls that one, then that called this one over. Now we're having an impromptu party and no one knows wth is going on .๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ
So now they are on the phone with corporate ๐Ÿ™„

"Half hour later..."

All is good, everything voided out. New transaction smooth. Too good to be true...
Go to pump and there's another issue with it. Apparently the guy before us drove without pumping his gas, so his prepaid amount was still registering on the pump and it wouldn't let us pump. ( The guy driving off w/out pumping may /may not have been our fault ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ) He did walk out and see us cued behind his truck waiting for the pump. When he saw us it did put a giddy up in his step. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜†
But...

You guessed it!
Back inside I go... ๐Ÿ™„

The manager (knowing our set up & concerns) tells us to just pull up to the far pump. She felt so bad that she said that she didn't care if we blocked traffic or not. She was making sure we got our gas. ๐Ÿ˜Š All the employees were great! We all follow each other on FB now. ๐Ÿ˜†

The one employee who kept helping us with the pump told his co-workers that he was going on break and was going to hang out at our home. Pointing at the RV. Lol

All said and done, we were able to catch the end of the ballgame. All is right now.
Thanks for reading to the end!

โœจ๏ธ Tell us your travel day "Is this really happening?" moments. Or just any funny travel story. ๐Ÿ‘‡ It's good to laugh about it.
