Gettysburg Witches' Walk

Gettysburg Witches’ Walk is an inclusive, all-ages, all-genders, all-abilities dance troupe that performs in regional parades, events, and flash mobs. Formed two years ago, it is part of a rapidly growing global sisterhood of witch dance groups found in hundreds of communities worldwide. The troupe brings playful, high-energy, theatrical performances to public spaces, blending folklore, rhythm, and mischief into a lively tradition for all ages. Entirely volunteer-run, Gettysburg Witches’ Walk has built a strong community following in person and online, with nearly 7,000 supporters on Facebook.
History behind it all:
Walpurgisnacht (Walpurgis Night) is a traditional German festival celebrated on the night of April 30th into May 1st, sometimes called “Witches’ Night” (Hexennacht) and seen as a spring counterpart to Halloween. It blends older pagan spring rites with folklore about witches gathering on mountain peaks to welcome the changing season. In recent years, a modern performance tradition that emerged in Germany’s Harz Mountains has grown into a global witch dance phenomenon. Set to Schüttel deinen Speck by Peter Fox, thousands of witch groups worldwide now create “witch walks” that combine synchronized dance, theatrical costume, folklore, and communal celebration. What began as a regional festival expression has become an international movement of public, high-energy group dances rooted in joy, embodiment, and collective presence. Events now span cities large and small, including record-breaking gatherings such as the Sandusky Ohio Witches Walk.

We visit many Haunted attractions , attend parades, and other public events.
