Radioactive waste in PA landfills: More than 50 Pennsylvania environmental groups have spoken out against a March 2026 Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection report claiming “no risk to the public” from radioactive waste in state landfills. Advocates say DEP conducted no actual risk assessment, relied on flawed data that still showed elevated radiation levels, and proposed “diluting” radioactive pollution rather than preventing it.
