Seguin Sunrise Lions Club 2026-2027 President Omar Maldonado presents outgoing club president Mark Shellard with the Outstanding President's Award from Lions International.

Seguin Sunrise Lions Club newly installed officers for 2026/2027 are Director Kay Lynn Hawkins, Director Chuck Askey, Service Chair Bob Pearson, Tail Twister Charlie Foss, 1st Vice President Marvel Maddox, President Omar Maldonado, Treasurer Renee Darling, Secretary Mark Shellard, Lion Tamer Ron Colunga, and Director Mel Grones. Not pictured are 2nd Vice President Richard Smyer and Director Lloyd Wilson. Officiating the Installation is Past Director 2-S5 Governor Andy Rodriguez of Gonzales.

Seguin Sunrise Lion, and incoming president, Omar Maldonado receives the Melvin Jones Fellow for Distinguished Humanitarian Service from Lions Clubs International. The Melvin Jones Fellow is the highest honor presented by the world’s largest service organization. Presenting the honor is Past District 2-S5 Governor Andy Rodriguez and outgoing club president Mark Shellard.

WE SERVE! Texas Ramp #21 for the Seguin Sunrise Lions.

We completed our 21st ramp today for the Texas Ramp Project. More photos in a separate post.

District Governor Kelli Higgins spoke to our Lions Zone meeting Wednesday night and shared her thoughts with us regarding a variety of topics, including the need to continue to focus on growing the membership of the four clubs that call Seguin home. A handout she provided is well worth sharing with all our followers.

Today, Christian Cupboard Team Captain Grace Mueller received the cupboard's $750 annual sustaining donation from the Seguin Sunrise Lions Club, represented by club President Mark Shellard and Program Chair Marvel Maddox. The club also collected 142 pounds of food and personal hygiene items today to be donated to the cupboard. This was our 36th quarterly food drive.

One of our community give-back efforts is supporting Seguin’s Christian Cupboard food bank every quarter. We began donating food and necessities in the 2017-2018 fiscal year and tomorrow’s contribution will put us over the 4 TONS mark. The Lions International motto is “We Serve” and the Seguin Sunrise Lions are proud to do our part.
