Flood Watches remain in effect across South Central and Southeast Texas as communities continue dealing with dangerous flooding.

In South Central Texas, NWS Austin/San Antonio says a Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 PM Tuesday, June 16, with isolated pockets of more than 8 inches of rain possible. In Southeast Texas, NWS Houston/Galveston says a Flood Watch is in effect through Thursday morning, with the highest flooding risk across southern and coastal counties, where a Level 3 of 4 excessive rainfall risk is in place.

The image below from AEM Elements® 360 shows daily rainfall totals ranging from 2 to 5.9 inches in some of the hardest-hit areas. The result has been flooded roads, closed low-water crossings, and water rescues reported in parts of the region.

Protecting the public in situations like this requires fast action and well-timed communication based on a complex set of variables, including soil saturation, water levels, creek and stream response, forecast rainfall, and the cumulative impact of flooding. That’s why Elements 360 is designed to bring these pieces together in one operational view, supporting effective alerting and action when conditions demand it.

Because we understand that when it comes to the decision moment... you can’t afford to miss it.

Today is , and meteorological summer begins in just a few days.

As temperatures rise, so do the risks of heat-related illness for students, athletes, workers, and outdoor event attendees.

For teachers, coaches, supervisors, and event organizers, that creates a critical decision moment: knowing when to take action. It’s about finding the right moment to help prevent without creating unnecessary disruptions to work, practices, and events.

Unfortunately, that moment is not always obvious. That's because heat risk is not just about the temperature on a weather app. It depends on the complex interplay between air temperature, humidity, wind, direct sunlight, cloud cover, exertion, exposure time, equipment, acclimation, and the people involved.

Our recent blog explains how to recognize when heat conditions call for action. Read the blog: https://blog.aem.eco/when-is-it-too-hot-to-work-or-practice-a-heat-stress-prevention-guide?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=DecisionMomentHeatStress

A rapidly strengthening El Niño could become one of the defining climate signals of the summer season.

In AEM’s upcoming 2026 Summer Outlook webinar, our meteorological team will unpack what this and other climate signals could mean for specific regions across North America.

🔎 Where could heat become more persistent?
🔎 Where could precipitation extremes become a concern?
🔎 What could it all mean for drought, water supply, wildfire potential, smoke, and air quality?

Join us for a practical look at the weather risks, regional patterns, and planning considerations that could matter most this summer.
